    Seven jet-black ravens landed on the icy branches, disturbing the quiet of this wondrous other world with their flapping wings. Snow crystals lined my eyelashes as I peered into the tree line. The tapping of snowflakes against the ground was the only sound in the vastness of the forest. My cheeks stung from my tears freezing in the cold air. Puffs of steam spilled from my mouth as I spun in the middle of the clearing, my heart frantically beating in my head.

    I closed my eyes and inhaled a sharp, freezing breath. The weight of the world held me down, but there was nowhere to go. It was my own fault.
