Poker Strategy - Ryan Harrington
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to my little book about how to play the small pairs in No-Limit Hold'em poker to win bigger pots. My name is Ryan Harrington, and I am passionate about the art of poker! This is a free bonus book for poker players who are serious about taking their game to the next level.
If you have picked up this book, you are probably interested to learn how to master the small pairs. It could be that you are losing too many chips or not making enough money with the small pairs! Whatever reason you have, you will learn a lot of advanced strategies that I have picked up over my years of playing poker.
As mentioned, this is a bonus book and an introduction to my poker strategy book about how to play the premium pocket pairs to win big pots. After reading you can follow it up with learning about premium pairs. There are many strategies and tactics to apply to both small and big pocket pairs, and I will try to cover as much of it here as possible.
To under the content of these books about pocket pairs, you need a good grasp of the fundamentals of poker, from the basic rules to a fundamental understanding of hand combinations, ranking, ranges, and reading your opponents.
Far too many people think that the only basics they need to learn before playing poker are hand rankings and rules. They expect to be able to hop on a table at the casino and throw chips around, hoping to get lucky. That is the wrong approach if you want to be a winning player.
If you are reading a book like this one, you are most likely in the top percentage of poker players, looking to be pros while having already mastered the basics. But if you haven’t, I recommend starting with the fundamentals of poker, called the Game theory optimal (GTO).
Game Theory Optimal is a strategy that was first introduced in the 1970s. It explains how to optimally play hands based on the ranges of their opponents. You will never be playing a hand in isolation but always taking into account how your opponents could be playing and how you can adjust to exploit them.
To exploit your opponents, you should understand the most optimal way of playing the game. To do this. you need to understand the importance of pre-flop hand selection and post-flop play. It is critical to know when to fold pre-flop and when to raise or call.
Game Theory Optimal will give you the highest chance of making the right decisions over the long term. It is based on the odds, probability, and expected value of each hand. This is why it is important to know math and do some calculations before making a decision. If you have not covered the basics, I recommend you read my first book, Poker Strategy: Mastering the Fundamentals of Game Theory Optimal which will give you the perfect start to becoming a pro player. Then, you should follow up with my second book, Understanding Ranges in No Limits Hold’em Poker. an in-depth strategy of hand reading and exploitative play.
In this bonus book, we will first focus on small pocket pairs. We’ll cover everything from pre-flop to post-flop play and how to maximize your win rate with each pair. This will include a range of strategies such as what hands to 3-bet and how to bluff and play your small pairs against different types of opponents.
The first chapter starts with an interesting and important concept. Mindset! We will discuss the right mindset to have when playing poker and why having it is essential to mastering the game. Mindset plays a big part in success and failure in the game of poker. When playing small pairs, you will be faced with tough decisions, so having the right mindset to take on these challenges is vital. The chapter will then discuss the importance of hand selection and why it is important in early game strategy.
The following chapter will be teaching you strategies on how to play the small pairs in different situations. In the third chapter, I will discuss how to maximize your profit with small pairs when playing against different types of opponents. Finally, in
