Is it just me or is it hot in here?

Bryce, my boss, stands in front of my desk, his hands on his hips. I blush and resist making a joke about how he makes a room hot just by walking into it.

The air conditioning’s packed up, I say instead. I’ve reported it, but it’ll take a couple of hours for an engineer to get out here.

I’m fine, I protest, even though the office is so stuffy and airless it’s starting to make my head swim.
