    Lesson 1

The Divine Origins Of The Bible

    What makes a thing divine?

A thing is said to be divine when it originates with YHVH when YHVH is responsible for it

Illustration   Part 1: Lesson 1   Illustration

YHVH is a YHVH who speaks

YHVH is a being he possesses all wisdom and intelligence. He not only sees our needs and knows the remedy, but He is a YHVH who desires to communicate to man the things necessary to salvation, knowing these things we can expect that YHVH would speak to us

Yes YHVH has spoken. But how has He spoken? To whom has He spoken? Has YHVH appeared in the sky and spoken directly to us? Surely we realize that He hasn’t. Does God come to every person on earth and in some unknown manner place his word of knowledge and understanding into our heart? Again we know that he hasn’t

Then how has YHVH spoken to us? Instead of speaking to us directly from heaven or mysteriously speaking to each of us YHVH has chosen certain persons from among men and has spoken to the masses through these chosen few.

    Noticed three things:

    (1) YHVH spoke

    (2) To the fathers

    (3) and to us, But how did he speak to the fathers and to us? By the prophets and by His Son so instead of speaking to every man directly YHVH chose certain men and spoke to the rest through them

    Hebrews. 1: 1 – 2

1: God, who at sundry times and in divers manners Spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    2: Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Illustration   Part 2: Lesson 1   Illustration

But how did YHVH communicate his message to these chosen men?

1: Let us study how he communicated his message to the writers of the Tanach (Old Testament)

Moses is the writer of the first five books The Torah but to the gentiles (these are often referred to as the Pentateuch) which means five Books YHVH spoke DIRECTLEY to Moses to give him his message then Moses wrote it down. The YHVH TALKED with Moses face-to-face, what the Yahweh said Moses wrote in a book

    Exodus. 33: 9 – 11

9: And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.

10: And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

11: And the LORD Spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

    Exodus. 24: 4

4: And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

But it is evident that the YHVH did not speak face-to-face with other writers of the Tanach (Old Testament) Books. (Deuteronomy. 34: 10). There arose not a prophet since in Israel LIKE Moses In what way was Moses different from the other Prophets? The latter part of that verse explains: whom the YHVH knew FACE –TO-FACE. How then did YHVH communicate His message to these other writers? Read (Numbers. 12: 3 – 8). Instead of speaking DIRECTLY to them as He had done to Moses, He REVEALED His word to them. Thus notice the expressions of the various prophets as to their receiving messages from YHVH to deliver to the people: The vision of Isaiah (Isaiah. 1: 1) I saw visions of YHVH (Ezekiel. 1: 1) The word of the YHVH came to Jonah (Jonah. 1: 1) check the first few verses of the books of the prophets and notice that similar expressions are mentioned by most of them. But how did YHVH give these special dreams, visions and revelations to these men? Peter in writing of the Tanach (Old Testament) prophets wrote "for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of YHVH spake AS THEY WERE MOVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (II Peter. 1: 21) These dreams were different from those that people commonly had. These were revelations made by the Holy Spirit.

    Deuteronomy. 34: 10

10: And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

    Numbers. 12: 3 – 8

3: (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

4: And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.

5: And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.

6: And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the

LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

7: My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

8: With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

    Isaiah. 1: 1

1: The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

    Ezekiel. 1: 1

1: Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

    Jonah. 1: 1

1: Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

    2 Peter. 1: 21

21: For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2: Now let us study YHVH’s method of communicating His message to the writers of the Brit Chadash (New Testament)

In Hebrews, (Hebrews. 1: 2) It says that YHVH in these last days has spoken to us BY HIS SON (Hebrews. 9: 15). Declares that Yeshua is the mediator of the Brit Chadash (New Testament) (the one through whom it was given). But, did Yeshua sit down and write the books of the Brit Chadash (New testament) himself? No Peter, Paul, John, James, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Jude, did. Who were these men? They were men whom Yeshua chose prepared and equipped to do this work. Let us notice how these men were used of YHVH to write His word

    Hebrews. 1: 1 – 2

1: God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    2: Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

    Hebrews. 9: 15

15: And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

FIRST – Yeshua delivered unto them YHVH’s word. See (John. 17: 8) Where Yeshua said He did.

    John. 17: 8

8: For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

SECOND – HE commanded then to go forth (after He returned to heaven) teaching men to observe ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER I HAVE COMMANDED YOU (Matthew. 28: 20)

    Matthew. 28: 20

20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

THIRD – But how were these men to remember all that Yeshua had told them? Being men they were liable to forget something that Yeshua had taught them. Exactly; Yeshua realized this and promised to send the Holy spirit to them who would teach you all things and BRING ALL THINGS TO YOUR REMEMMBERENCE WHATSOEVER I HAVE SAID UNTO YOU (John. 14: 26) (note – this verse also says the Holy Spirit would teach them, there were many things Yeshua would liked to have taught them while He was yet with them but they being human beings had received all; that they were then able to bear, so when the Holy spirit came upon them. He COMPLETED teaching them – guided them unto ALL truth (John. 16: 12 – 13; Ephesians. 3: 3 – 5) states that things were REVEALED to these apostles BY THE SPIRIT which heretofore were unknown to men)

    John. 14: 26

26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    John. 16: 12 – 13

12: I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

    Ephesians. 3: 3 – 5

3: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

4: Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

    5: Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

FOURTH – The Holy spirit came to the apostles on the day of Shavuot (Pentecost) and they began teaching these things that Yeshua had commanded them read (Acts. 2: 1 – 4) For the account of the Holy Spirit coming. notice that they spoke AS THE SPIRIT GAVE THEM UTTERANCE

    Acts. 2: 1 – 4

1: And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3: And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The case of Paul differed somewhat from that of the other apostles. The others had all, walked and talked with Yeshua and had heard His teachings while He was on Earth. But not so with Paul; Yeshua called him to be an apostle AFTER He ascended into Heaven. Since, Paul had not been taught by Yeshua while He was on Earth, how did Yeshua teach these things to him? Yeshua communicated this instruction to Paul by REVELATION (Galatians. 1: 11 – 12) therefore, Paul also preached by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

    Galatians. 1: 11 – 12

11: But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

12: For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Necessary conclusions about writings of the Bible in the light of these facts

    (1) The word that men wrote were not their own words were not the product of human wisdom and reasoning but are the very words of the YHVH of heaven compare (Matthew. 10: 19 – 20)

    Matthew. 10: 19 – 20

19: But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20: For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

    (2) Therefore these words having been written by YHVH’s direction they are free from error and are not contradictory one of another

    (3) Since they are YHVH’s word revealing the truth, it is binding upon men that they believe and obey these words which constitute the whole council of God to them.

    (4) To mutilate or alter these words is to bring destruction upon oneself (2 Peter. 3: 16) and (Revelation. 22: 18 – 19)

    2 Peter. 3: 16

16: As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

    Revelation. 22: 18 – 19

18: For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

And alter these words is to bring destruction upon oneselves

    (5) The reject these writings is to reject YHVH and Yeshua who are responsible for them read (Luke. 10: 16) And which Yeshua spoke to those whom He was sending out with His message.

    Luke. 10: 16

16: He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

    (6) These writings are the only writings which are sacred and divine in this respect the Bible is different from all other so-called religious books

    (7) YHVH’s word will endure longer than men who wither and die (1 Peter. 1: 24 – 25) And longer than heaven and earth which will pass away (Matthew. 24: 35)

    1 Peter. 1: 24 – 25

24: For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you

    Matthew. 24: 35

35: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Man is to LIVE by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of YHVH (Matthew. 4: 4)

    Matthew. 4: 4

4: But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Make a note of the following passages of scripture

    (1 Peter. 1: 24 – 25)

24: For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. Isa 40:8

    And

    (2 Peter. 1: 21)

21: For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

    Lesson 2

The Deity of Yeshua The Messiah

That Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of the Living YHVH, is the central fact of the Biblical system. Upon the truth of this statement rest the Brit Chadash (New Testament) institution see (Matthew. 16: 16 – 18)

    Matthew. 16: 16 – 18

16: And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18: And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

While all of those who have become subjects of the kingdom of YHVH have confessed their faith in Yeshua Ha-Mashiach, yet too many are unable to give any convincing and intelligent defence of their faith. This study should deepen your faith, expand your knowledge, and increase your devotion to Yeshua Immanuel our Lord or YHVH.

Yeshua’s Attributes Were Those Of Deity

1: Eternality is attributed to Yeshua. He is spoken of as being in the beginning with the Father before the world was (John. 1: 1; John. 17: 5)

    John. 1: 1

1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    John. 17: 5

5: And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

    2: Sinlessness is attributed to Yeshua (Hebrews. 4:15; II Corinthians. 5: 21; I John. 3: 5; I Peter. 2: 22).

    Hebrews. 4: 15

15: For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

    2 Corinthians. 5: 21

21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

    1 John. 3: 5

5: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

    1 Peter. 2: 22

3: Authority to forgive sins is attributed to Yeshua (Mark. 2: 3 – 11; Ephesians. 1:7)

    Mark. 23: 3 – 11

4: And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5: When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6: But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7: Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8: And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9: Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10: But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11: I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

    Ephesians. 1: 7

    7: In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

    John. 1: 9

9: That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world

    John. 1: 10

10: He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

    Colossians. 1: 16 – 17

16: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

3: Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

    3: In redemption, Yeshua is the redeemer (Ephesians. 1: 7; Titus. 2: 14; Revelation. 5: 9)

    Ephesians. 1: 7

    7: In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

    Titus. 2: 14

14: Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

    Revelation. 5: 9

    9: And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

4: Yeshua shares in the work of punishing the wicked

    (II Thessalonians. 1: 7 – 8; Matthew. 3: 11 – 12; Matthew. 25: 41)

    Matthew. 3: 11 – 12

11: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

    Matthew. 25: 41

41: Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

The Claims Of Yeshua Were The Claims Of Deity

1: Yeshua clams as regards His person

(1): He claimed to have lived before Abraham (John. 8: 58) .

    John. 8: 58

58: Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

(2): He claimed to be greater than the wisest man (Matthew. 12: 42)

    Matthew. 12: 42

42: The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

(3): He claimed to be not of this world, but from above (John. 8: 23)

    John. 8: 23

23: And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

(4): He claimed to be one with the Father (John. 10: 30; John. 14: 9)

    John. 10: 30

30: I and my Father are one

    John. 14: 9

9: Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

(5): He challenged men to convict Him of Sin (John. 8: 46)

    John. 8: 46

46: Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

    (6): He claimed and spoke with authority (Matthew. 11: 27; Matthew. 28: 18; Matthew. 7: 28 – 29)

    Matthew. 11: 27

27: All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

    Matthew. 28: 18

18: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

    Matthew. 7: 28 – 29

28: And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes

(7): He claimed that men should honor Him as they Honored the Father (John. 5: 22 – 23)

    John. 5: 22 – 23

22: For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son

23: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him

(8): He claimed that He could keep from dying and that when having submitted to the Crucifixion, He would arise from the dead (John. 10: 17 – 18) .

    John. 10: 17 – 18

17: Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18: No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

(9): He claimed to be the only approach to YHVH, the only hope of salvation and that apart from Him there was no life (John. 14: 6; John. 8: 24; John. 6: 53; John. 11: 27)

    John. 14: 6

6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

    John. 8: 24

24: I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

    John. 6: 53

53: Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

    John. 11: 27

27: She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

    (10): He openly claimed to be the Messiah (John. 4: 25 – 26; Mark. 14: 61 – 62)

    John. 4: 25 – 26

25: The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

26: Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

    Mark 14: 61 – 62

61: But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

62: And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

2: Yeshua claims as regards His work

(1): He claimed that His blood was shed for the remission of Sins (Matthew. 26: 28)

    Matthew. 26: 28

28: For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

(2): He claimed that He would sit at the right hand of YHVH (Luke. 22: 69)

    Luke. 22: 69

69: Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

(3): He claimed that someday He would come in the clouds with the Holy angels (Matthew. 26: 64; Matthew. 16: 27) .

    Matthew. 26: 64

64: Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven

    Matthew. 16: 27

27: For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

(4): He claimed that someday He would raise all the dead (John. 5: 28 – 29) .

    John. 5: 28 – 29

28: Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29: And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

    (5): He claimed to be the divinely appointed judge (John. 5: 26 – 27; Matthew 25: 31 – 41)

    John. 5: 26 – 27

    26: For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

27: And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

    Matthew. 25: 31 – 41

31: When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34: Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37: Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38: When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39: Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40: And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41: Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

3: Yeshua’s claim as regards His message, His Works, and His mission

(1): He claimed that His message was not His, but the Father’s (John. 7: 16; John. 12: 49) .

    John. 7: 16

16: Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

    John. 12: 49

49: For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

(2): He claimed that the works (Miracles) that He performed were performed by the Father (John. 14: 10 – 11) .

    John. 14: 10 – 11

10: Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11: Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

(3): He claimed that He was sent forth of the father into the world (John. 8: 42; John. 7: 28 – 29; John. 6: 38) .

    John. 8: 42

42: Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me

    John. 7: 28

28: Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

    John. 7: 29

29: But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

    John. 6: 38

38: For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

These claims of Yeshua are either true or false. If they are true, He is the Messiah. If they are not true, He was not the Messiah but an imposter, and as such deserves no praise whatsoever.

The Testimony Of Credible Voices Ascribe Deity to Yeshua

(1): The Father claimed Him as His Son (Matthew. 3: 17; Matthew. 17: 5)

    Matthew. 3: 17

17: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

    Matthew. 17: 5

5: While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

(2): John the Baptist declared Him to be the Son of YHVH (John. 1: 29 – 34) .

    John. 1: 29 – 34

29: The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

30: This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

31: And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32: And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33: And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

34: And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God

(3): The Angel Gabriel said that He would be called the Son of YHVH (Luke. 1: 31 – 35) .

    Luke. 1: 31 – 35

31: And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32: He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34: Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35: And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

(4): Philip confessed Him as the one of whome Moses and the Prophets had written (John. 1: 45)

    John. 1: 45

45: Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph

(5): At the crucifixion, the Centurion and his attendants confessed Him to be the Son of YHVH (Matthew. 27: 54)

    Matthew. 27: 54

54: Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

    (6): Thomas acknowledged Him as Elohim and YHVH (John. 20: 27 – 28) .

    John. 20: 27 – 28

27: Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing

28: And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God.

    (7): Peter confessed Him to be the Messiah (Matthew. 16: 15 – 16) .

    Matthew. 16: 15 – 16

15: He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16: And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

While this is but a small portion of the abundant evidence at hand establishing and verifying the fact that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of the Living YHVH, yet the evidence presented in this lesson is fully sufficient to convince any fair minded person of the accuracy of our proposition.

Passages for the support of this and conclusion of the lesson (Matthew. 17: 5 and Matthew. 16: 16).

    (Matthew. 17: 5)

5: While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

    And

    (Matthew. 16: 16)

16: And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

    Lesson 3

    The YHVH of Heaven

Bible believer often take too much for granted, things, which are true they have accepted as true without either questioning them or understanding them. This is true with the subject of YHVH. The average one cannot handle the argument of those who deny YHVH, nor has he ever made a study of the Bible to ascertain the kind of an YHVH that he worships. Let us give consideration, then to this basic subject.

Illustration   Part 1: Lesson 3   Illustration

    There is a YHVH

The Bible does not go about to prove that fact. It merely accepts the fact as axiomatic, and proceeds from there. The Bible lists YHVH as the beginning of everything (Genesis. 1: 1). Then the heavens declare the glory of YHVH; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork (Psalms. 19: 1). The vastness of the universe demands a powerful cause behind it all. Astronomical figures of distances are indeed staggering. But again the order and plan of the universe demand a creator – a planner.

    Genesis. 1: 1

1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

    Psalms. 19: 1

1: The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

There was a designer behind the solar system, which works with such accurate precision. There was wisdom that planned the human body with all its delicate organs, each functioning as it does. Evolution is not sufficient for such orderliness. In fact one stands in bewilderment until he simply accepts the fact of YHVH.

Illustration   Part 2: Lesson 3   Illustration

YHVH is personal and there is but one YHVH

The order of the creation demands a personal YHVH – one who is imbued with all wisdom. The plan of redemption divinely devised demands a YHVH who not only thinks, but wills and acts. Herein Biblical Christianity and Christian Science clash. The YHVH of Christian Science is an impersonal god. We believe in a YHVH who speaks (Hebrews. 1: 1) and in a YHVH who even sees our hearts (Hebrews. 4: 12 – 13).

    Hebrews. 1: 1

1: God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    Hebrews. 4: 12 – 13

12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13: Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The Bible is plain in declaring that there is but ONE YHVH (Deuteronomy. 6: 4 – 5; Isaiah. 44: 6 Ephesians. 4: 6 1 Timothy. 2: 5). Here in Biblical beliefs clashes with idolatry of all forms. Bear this in mind that YHVH says He is a Jealous YHVH, refusing to have His people worship anything else or anybody else as YHVH (Exodus. 34: 14). He commands Israel to break down the images of the false gods (Deuteronomy 7: 5). Naturally, there is not room for two Gods like the one set forth in the Bible.

    Deuteronomy. 6: 4 – 5

4: Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

    Isaiah. 44: 6

6: Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

    Ephesians. 4: 6

6: One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all

    1 Timothy. 2: 5

    5: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

    Exodus. 34: 14

14: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

    Deuteronomy. 7: 5

5: But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

    Some attributes of YHVH

It is not possible in the limited space affordable in a simple lesson like this to include all of YHVH’s attributes, nor to give more than the briefest discussion of those that we do list.

1: He is a YHVH or power.

The creation of the universe demonstrates His unlimited power. The constant providence YHVH maintains in keeping everything operating is further demonstration of His infinite power. His punishment inflicted on the ancient world at the Flood, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the destruction of Nadab, Abihu, and Korah declare His mighty power. The miracles of both testaments depict His wondrous might. The fact that He can hear and answer the prayers of bible believers indicates His power.

2: He is a YHVH of knowledge.

There is nothing that YHVH doers not know (Psalms. 147: 5; Job. 37: 16; Hebrews. 4: 13). He knows the number of stars even their names (Psalms. 147: 4). He knows all things in our hearts (1 John. 3: 20). He knows the falling of every bird and he knows the number of our hairs (Matthew. 10: 29 – 30). His eyes are in every place to see the evil and the good (Proverbs. 15: 3). He knows all about us (Psalms. 139: 1 – 2). The fact that He can accurately judge all men’s in the last day is based upon the fact that He knows everything.

    Psalms. 147: 5

5: Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

    Job. 37: 16

16: Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?

    Hebrews. 4: 13

13: Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

    Psalms. 147: 4

4: He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

    1 John. 3: 20

20: For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

    Matthew. 10: 29 – 30

29: Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father

30: But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

    Proverbs. 15: 3

3: The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

    Psalms. 139: 1 – 2

1: O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2: Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off

3: He is a YHVH of Love.

This attribute is enlarged upon in the Bible about the most of any of his attributes (1 John. 4: 8; John. 4: 16). Let us realize that this love is limited to righteousness and man. It does not include that which is evil, for YHVH hates that which is sinful. The love of YHVH is seen in His goodness manifested towards us. Even though men have rebelled against Him, He continues to send rain and sunshine upon all (Matthew. 5: 44 – 45). It was His love that caused Him to bear the loss of His only – begotten Son upon the cross in order that men might be saved (John. 3: 16; 1 John. 4: 9 – 10). It is His goodness that leads men to repentance (Romans. 2: 4)

    1 John. 4: 8

8: He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

    1 John. 4: 16

16: And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

    Matthew. 5: 44 – 45

    44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45: That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

    John. 3: 16

16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    1 John. 4: 9 – 10

9: In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him

10: Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

    Romans. 2: 4

4: Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

    4: He is a YHVH
