This was not one of those days one could celebrate as being on the mountain top. No! It was a valley experience. The pain was excruciating. Never had I felt so much agony. However, much to my astonishment, at that moment I decided to praise the almighty God. I didn’t believe it myself; although, it was painful. It served as a reminder that we were created to worship and praise God at all times. In the morning, noon, and night as well as in the good and not so good times. His name is worthy of our praises and honor. I am thankful that I chose above all other things to praise God.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord, Thank you, Lord. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Those were the words I heard myself saying again and again during my ordeal. All the while, I was in severe pain. I couldn’t think clearly. It was as though my mind had gone completely blank for a period. No homemade remedies flashed across my thoughts. Subsequently, I continued to praise my God.
The pain intensified as I began to run back and forth in the hallway between the kitchen and bathroom. Fortunately for me, my youngest sister, Sylvanna, who was tending to my mother that day, came running to find out what had happened. My mother in one of the other rooms had no idea what had just happened to her eldest daughter.
I remembered pointing to my right leg at the same time trying to explain that the hot water I was carrying fell on my leg. Later that night, I realized that the base at the bottom of the jar had fallen out and the water poured down on my leg. My sister assisted by cutting open the pair of thighs that clung tightly to my skin. One of my nephews tried to help by sharing his pain reliever with me. I was eager to try anything that would make the pain go away. It was much later that my dear sister came up with the idea of taking me to the bathroom to pour cold water on my leg. She gathered
