CHAPTER ONE

JEN ARRIVED AT the airport early, as usual. She never liked to rush, and airports were the worst place to be running late. She checked in at the desk and was rewarded for her compulsive punctuality by being offered a seat in the business class lounge for her long wait.

We get to give out one per month each and I have a feeling you’ll enjoy it there, said the attendant at the desk. At the time, Jen didn’t notice the glint in her eye and the slight raise of her brow as she said that. Even if she had noticed, there’s no way she could have known what was in store for her.

After getting through security Jen made her way to the lounge. There were people sat around the large room in comfortable leather arm chairs. Most of them were dressed in suits and focused on laptops perched on side tables. Jen had packed light for this little weekend away and only had her purse with her as carry-on. She took a seat at the bar and caught the eye of the bartender. He walked over and flashed her a smile and she ordered a glass of sauvignon blanc. Jen waited for her drink and looked around the bar. Nobody in this section was distracted by their technology. In fact, they were all engaged in what looked like intimate conversations with one another. Not only that but every single one of them looked like they had stepped off the cover of a fashion magazine. Never had she seen so many extremely attractive people all in one place. There were about a dozen all together, men and women, and they wore perfectly tailored suits and dresses.
