About this ebook

Leah

I think I was born to spend the rest of my life alone. I can't for the life of me, find a spouse. Jilted on my wedding day, I land myself in a private night club. I run into the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Her name is Kade Greystone. She's not only beautiful, but filthy rich and a real MEAN girl. She takes pity on me and gives me an incredible night of passion. I thought this was a one-night stand. But now she's saying I'm her fated mate... My one-night stand with Kade will last an eternity.

Kade

I love women, but I hate the patriarchy. I've spent a thousand years under this petulant rulership, and I've had first hand experience with the hole in men's hearts. They're never happy. Never satisfied. I spend my nights with my small coven, searching for a place to build a permanent home. I've been in Detroit two months, and I'm ready to leave, bored of this place, but when beautiful Leah walks into my nightclub, I suddenly want to stay. She captivates me in ways no woman ever has. So, I give her a taste of what true passion feels like. But there's one problem. She's awakened a 1,000-year-old dead heart. Leah's my mate. I've waited centuries for this woman, believing she didn't exist. I didn't know our curse was lifted. I'm bonded to this woman for eternity. I feel the pull to her, but she doesn't feel the same for me. I've waited a 1,000 years for Leah. My expertise is patience. I'll wait a thousand more if that's what it takes.

Jenna is a steamy lesbian romance author of fast-paced instalove romance. Expect them to be over-the-top, absurdly ridiculous–but always with a happy ending.

    One-Night Stand - Jenna Kent

    Leah

What do you mean he's not coming? I exclaim, pushing the train of my gown behind me. It's my wedding day; I've been sitting in this dressing room for an hour, waiting to walk down the aisle. Ellie, my older sister, closes the door to muffle my screams. I'm devastated; I've been jilted. This chapel is packed with family members from both sides. How could he do this? My mother bursts into the room, slamming the door shut behind her. Her green eyes look like they're on fire.

What did you do? She growls at me. Of course, this is all my fault. I did everything she told me to do and yet, here we are: I'm single once again.

Mother, you didn't come in here to blame me…I know you wouldn't dare! I stammer out, my face stained with tears. I tug at my wedding dress, reaching over my shoulder as if I can unzip it myself. Wrong again. I look at my sister Ellie, my face begging. My mother pulls her phone out of her purse, going through her contacts to search for my fiancée's number.

Call him Leah, she states firmly and holds the phone out to me, call him and beg him to show up.

Get me out of this dress! I shout hysterically. Ellie darts behind me and yanks on the zipper.

No! I snarl at my mother. I don't care if I see another man again. I'm sick of being expected to please you. It's not working! Unzipping the white gown, I let it fall from my shoulders down to my waist. Exposing my bra, I feel her hand across my face before she speaks.

You insolent little bitch! She hisses. You'll call him now to fix this or consider yourself homeless! Hastily pulling the dress down, tears stream down my face as I listen to her ultimatum.

You can stay with me Leah. Ellie offers in a soothing voice, yet my mother glares at her harshly.

Ah, I see what this is. Two daughters wasted on a life for them both to be gay! I want both of you out of here right now! In a rage, she storms towards the door and bellows a warning back at me: Leah! You have until noon tomorrow to get all your stuff out of my house, or else I'm donating it!

Ellie pulls me into an embrace and lets me cry against her shoulder. After a few moments, she moves away from me and grabs the short dress that was meant for the end of my reception. I feel like absolute shit.

Put this on now, we have to go. I shook my head in disbelief, hands covering my face, devastated by the events of the day. Ellie helped me with the dress, packing my bags and tugging me out of the room. As we hurried away from the chapel, I felt a sense of shame and embarrassment wash over me. Ellie threw my duffel bag into her car before getting in and driving off.

We spent at least an hour roaming through the city, not sure of where to go next.

Were you serious about that guy? That was such a waste of time and money for something like that. He tried to marry you even though he knew you were gay, only out of convenience…well it's good he saw the light.

I squeezed my eyes shut as I spoke But I'll just end up alone forever? I had some stupid hope that things would work out like they were supposed to...even if it was only a marriage of convenience. No luck when it comes to women; what is wrong with me? I pulled the pins out of my hair, letting my long curls fall down my back.

Ellie sighed I'm thankful you got out of there.

But you can't take me in; you already have your own life going on, I said as she steered us towards Greektown in downtown Detroit. She pulled up in front of an old nightclub-once St Andrew's-which had recently been purchased and reopened by a new company.

Thirst Trap? Ellie chuckles. I gaze out the window, noticing it growing dark. The night club doors open wide, two burly security guards walking out. It's better than St. Andrews - let's go in, she proposes, pulling away. She locates a spot in the deserted parking lot.

A night club? That’s the last place I want to be, I say as Ellie extract me from the car. She straightens my dress, fluffs up my curls, and takes out some wet napkins from her purse to clean my smudged makeup. You ought to get laid. A one-night stand will clear your thoughts. She takes hold of my arms and drags me towards the night club. When we show up, I'm astonished to find a long line of gorgeous women already there.

That was fast, I murmur softly.

These clubs fill up quickly. Let's join the queue; perhaps we can find you someone before entering the building! she teases. As we move through the entrance, a guard steps forward.

You two, come on inside. Ellie halts and studies the man for a second. Wait, do they know each other? She glances at me and shrugs as she guides me in.

It looks like our luck is in tonight. Come on she says, taking me by the hand and leading me inside. Something about the place gives me a strange feeling that I can’t quite explain. Ellie pulls me with her, dragging me through to the dimly lit night club. The dance floor is expansive and bright, as if it has just opened – though it’s empty apart from us. In the center, the DJ sets up his equipment and puts on some music.

Ellie takes me through the vacant dance area towards the bar, motioning for me to take a seat. Let me get you a drink, she says cheerfully.

I sit down and take in my surroundings.
