    Barely Living by W.L.

    Authors Note

Growing up I wished my life was a fairytale, I’d find the person for me and be swept into a land of wonderfulness. Even at twenty-four I dream of that perfect fairytale. I’d wear big poofy dresses, live in a castle, and live happily ever after with my prince or princess. Hell, you can even add being a bad ass assassin, too.

Getting older and seeing the happy endings of different fairytales, I realized the darker side that comes with them. Not all fairytales end in happy endings. While it’s good to fantasize and dream, I think fairytales can teach us important lessons.

Some of these poems are a mix of my own fairytale, the fairytale I want, the fairytales I see written out around me, and some are the twisted versions that I’ve seen, noticed, and probably over thought.

So, thank you to all who read my book.

    Dedication

Grandma: You will always be my number one fan no matter what. I love you.

J: You were in my thoughts while writing some of these poems. We’re not together but that won’t change the fact some of these poems are about you.
