Elle smiled at the riveting redhead, all too conscious of the deep blush warming her face. They had bought the humanoid robot on a whim, Rose and her, after another failed night out. They were drunk and bitchy. The only males who looked their ways were ugly leeches in search for a whore or a housemaid or both. So why not consider a robot? At least a robot didn’t judge, didn’t complain, did only what he was programmed to do.

Rose had bought it the day after, since her paygrade as a long-haul skipper was much higher than one of a supply officer like Elle. Elle bought the program chips, all five of them. So their android cleaned their small apartment to rights, cooked their meals, served as their fitness trainer, participated in their Supernova Card games, or provided chaste male companionship when they required it.

But now, Rose was lost in space and after weeks of hesitation and heartache, Elle had just bought the sixth option of the robot’ software for herself. The one module they had talked about from the very beginning and squirreled away for.

Flushing crimson all the way down to her toes, she handed her credit chip to the pretty slicer who smirked. Really, Darling, there is no need to be embarrassed. Considering the choice of men we have on this darn station, you’re better off with a sex-bot, trust me.

6 is not a sex-bot, Elle countered immediately.
