The title of this book comes from David Brainerd's personal diary. David Brainerd was a Presbyterian missionary to the Native American Indians along the Delaware, New Jersey. He was born in the year, seventeen eighteen, and died in the year, seventeen forty-seven. During his years of ministry, he suffered many setbacks and hardships, which he recorded in his diary. In his later years, he suffered from Tuberculosis, which eventually he succumbed to. There, as he lay on his deathbed, about to depart, he urged his brother, to live above the rate of common Christianity. David Brainerd had done that himself in his life; he had not succumbed to just going with the flow. He wanted to live to the glory of God. He was a man of intense prayer; a man of intense yearnings to see his adopted people trained in the scriptures. David Brainerd had lived that himself and he had a desire that others live above the rate of common Christianity. I trust that you also have that desire to live above the rate of common Christianity.
The author is ordained with over thirty-five years in ministry. He is an authority on the book's subject matter having trained many converts, and himself lived above common Christianity. With keen insight into life and ministry, he has written this book to help you live above the rate of common Christianity. Get this book today and be all you can be!

David Brainerd, 1747.
The title of this book comes from David Brainerd’s personal diary. David Brainerd was a Presbyterian missionary to the Native American Indians along the Delaware, New Jersey. He was born in the year 1718 and died in the year, 1747. During his years of ministry, he suffered many setbacks and hardships, which he recorded in his diary. In his later years, he suffered from Tuberculosis, which eventually he succumbed to. There, as he lay on his deathbed and about to depart, he wrote to his brother, and urged his brother, to live above the rate of common Christianity. David Brainerd had done that himself in his life; he had not succumbed to just going with the flow. He wanted to live to the glory of God. He was a man of intense prayer. He was a man of intense yearnings after the lost, and to see his adopted people trained in the scriptures. David Brainerd had lived that himself, and he had a desire that others live above the rate of common Christianity.
I trust that you might also have that desire: not to be lukewarm, not to compromise; but that you would indeed desire to live above the rate of common Christianity. The purpose of this book is to train you to live above the rate of common Christianity. So, let's begin with part one.
1. Sinner
This section has to do with one who is in the position of being a sinner. A sinner is where one starts. The Bible makes it clear that when one is born into this world, through the natural birth, through the waters breaking and coming out of the womb, that one is born a sinner. One is born in Adam. One is born in a lost condition. The condition of a sinner is that they are lost from a relationship with God.
It began in the Garden of Eden, where Adam and Eve were created. They had a beautiful relationship with God. They understood that God was the source of all things. And they received from God: love, acceptance, joy, peace, power, and life. But when they disobeyed the directive and ate that forbidden fruit, they became aware of sin and knew they were naked. They became dead, spiritually. They were lost and separated from the fellowship of God, and salvation became their priority. And (in Genesis chapter three) an innocent lamb was sacrificed to clothe their nakedness. Through the blood of an innocent, Adam and Eve were redeemed back into divine favor.
Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth.
So, Adam was made in the likeness of God; then he fell into disfavour. Adam’s seed was passed on to his children and so on down through man’s history. Just like Seth, we have been born in Adam’s likeness: natural sinners, each needing the touch of the divine hand.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Okay, so these verses make it very clear, that by Adam, sin entered into the world, and death came because of that sin, and death has passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. The passage goes on to say, that as the offense of Adam condemned his seed, so also by the Second Adam, the free gift is offered. Through the offense of Adam, man dies, but by the gift of grace which is by one man, Jesus Christ, many can be made
