About this ebook
For Jay's thirtieth birthday, his straight best mate Brenden takes him to a gay bar. Great idea, except that it's full of guys who think Jay would look great under them. Only one problem with that – Jay may look like a twink, but he's no one's bottom. And when he spies the gorgeous, muscled specimen at the end of the bar, he's not about to waste his time. He knows a top when he sees one.
Dean has had enough of the guys who want him to be their Daddy. What makes it worse is that they're just his type. Dean is under no illusions. He knows what he looks like. But there has to be one guy in that bar who wants to top him, right?
This is a revised edition of the story previously published as part of the anthology Designated Bottoms by Torquere Press. The story has been expanded by 5,600 words.

Birthday Plans
––––––––
Hey, happy birthday!
Jay snickered. Your memory is getting worse, if you’ve already forgotten that you wished me a happy birthday yesterday.
Not only had Brenden bounced into the office with an exuberant, Happy Birthday!
that Jay was convinced every single member of the Town Hall heard, he’d also brought with him balloons, a card and cake, complete with three candles, one for each decade that Jay had lived so far. And you were a day early, remember?
Brenden snorted. So? It’s your birthday today, isn’t it? You get to celebrate it again. And besides, now that this fucking week is over, you can really let your hair down.
Another snort. Not that you have that much to let down in the first place.
Some of us like a nice, clean, short cut,
Jay said with a chuckle, unlike that unruly mop on top of your head.
The Dom in him itched to take a razor to it, except that would really freak Brenden out. Two years they’d been friends, ever since Brenden had begun working in Jay’s office, but there were still some things Brenden didn’t need to know. He claimed not to ‘get the whole gay thing’, so Jay was always careful not to shove his sexuality down Brenden’s throat. So, apart from the opportunity to wish me a happy birthday again, to what do I owe this pleasure?
It wasn’t like Brenden to call him over the weekend.
I’m calling to invite you out for a birthday drink tonight.
For a second Jay was rendered speechless by the unexpected offer. Really? Aw, that’s nice of you, but you don’t have to.
Brenden chuckled. You’re only thirty once, right? And I’m willing to bet you haven’t done anything to celebrate today, have you?
Damn it. Brenden apparently did know him.
Jay had spent the day pottering around his garden, pruning, cutting and tidying. It had been a bastard of a week at work, and showed every indication of continuing in the same vein into the next week as well. The garden was his refuge, his sanctuary, where he could switch off his work brain and get his hands dirty.
Of course, it wasn’t how he would have liked to be spending his birthday. No, that would have been more a case of hooking up with a hot guy for a night of even hotter sex. At least, that was what he told himself. The reality of the situation was very different, and he knew it. Jay liked talking, getting to know someone, finding out what made them tick, what pushed their buttons. Getting inside a guy’s head first made getting into his arse all the sweeter.
Okay, you got me,
he admitted. I was going to order a pizza, drink some beer and watch TV.
He was already on the couch, the phone book in his hand, leafing through the takeaway section.
Then isn’t it a good thing I called? Why don’t you meet me in town this evening, say, about nine?
Right then that sounded like a great idea. I can have pizza any time. In fact, I could even
