    Introduction.

In this book. We will learn the importance of praying to the Father, and how men and women of God have received great rewards through prayer. First, we must deeply understand the meaning of this well-known and lovely word Prayer, according to Almeida's Bible Dictionary.

PRAYER is: An approach of the person to God through words or thought, in private or in public. Includes confession (Psalm 51), worship (Psalm 95:6-9; Revelation 11:17), fellowship (Psalm 103:1-8), gratitude (1 Timothy 2:1), personal petition (2 Corinthians 12:8) and intercession for others (Romans 10:1) prayer requires purification (Psal m 66:18), faith (Hebrews 11:6), life in union with Christ (John 15:7), submission to God's will (1 John 5:14-15; Mark 14:32 - 36), guidance of the Holy Spirit (Jude 20), spirit of forgiveness (Matthew 6.12) and right relationship with people (1 Peter 3.7).

    CHAPTER 1

    Example of Jesus Christ

Jesus gave us the example of this approach to the Father through words, that is, he gave us the example of a life of prayer and taught us to do the same, teaching us the Our Father prayer described in the Gospel of Matthew: 6:9 as a model prayer, and in the previous verses, verse: 6, that he says to the crowds in the course of his sermon on the mount, saying: But when you go to pray, go to your room, close the door and pray to your Father, that it's in secret. Then your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

It is clear that when we read the context of this verse of Matthew: 6:6, we see that Jesus advises the crowd around him to pray in this way, to do differently from the Pharisees whom he portrays in verse: 5 as hypocrites, for their intention praying were to be seen by men where they liked to pray standing in synagogues, on street corners to be recognized by men as the Spiritual, where Jesus alerts the crowd to do the opposite, to pray seeking heavenly recognition and not the terrain.

    11

I see that at the same time that Jesus advised the crowd to pray that way back then in the ancient age, in th e same way Jesus hopes that today in post-modernity we have come to do so, taking time for Him every day in our room, to achieve this intimacy with him through prayer, let's look at the Our Father's prayer, step by step.

The Our Father prayer is a model prayer taught by Jesus Christ to his followers during the Sermon on the Mount. The Lord's Prayer is also called the Lord's Prayer, and is recorded in the Bible at Matthew 6:9-13. The meaning of this prayer unites adoration, petition and confession of sins.

In Luke 11:2-4 there is also a form of prayer that differs slightly from that recorded in Matthew chapter 6. In the Gospel of Luke Jesus indicates a model of prayer when answering a request from his disciples who wanted to learn how to pray . The Our Father prayer recorded by Matthew was taught by Jesus during a sermon.

Before teaching the Our Father prayer, the biblical text shows that Jesus urges his listeners on what the correct attitude should be when praying. He says that his followers must not act like hypocrites who seek only human recognition during their prayers. Jesus also condemns the practice of vain repetitions that was

    12

common behavior among Gentiles in their pagan cults. So, He teaches that His followers should pray to the Father trusting in His sovereignty over all things and with the certainty that He hears the prayers of His children (Matthew 6:5- 8).

The Our Father prayer can be divided into two parts. The first part contains three sentences that generally concern the glory of God. They are: hallowed be thy name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. The second part brings three petitions that concern our life and imply provision, forgiveness and protection. They are: Give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil .

    Our Father, who art in

    heaven...

The word translated Father corresponds to the Aramaic word Abba which was a common way for a son to address his father fondly. So, it is very significant that Jesus teaches that we should
