A small slice of America

For it’s a quiet little town
That rarely saw a crime.
There were no nightclubs or hotspots
Though drinking did occur.
Most notably on Friday nights
When their work was secure.
Their churches filled on Sunday morns
For thankfulness and praise
That their town had been so peaceful
Where children could be raised.
Though scandals rose from time to time
They’re few and far between
‘Cause small towns rarely had secrets
As ev’rything is seen.
