SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION

stated Muhammad Yunus, the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, but only when they're accompanied by a turning agent, the power to change hearts, minds, and behaviors.

People who have been trained realize that they study not for the sake of learning, but because they have the potential to become the person they want to be.
This is a groundbreaking book that teaches you how to make swift and significant changes in your life and career. Whether you are leading change or want to transform your life, read this book.
Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, David Maxfield, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzer are the founders of VitalSmarts, USA, an innovative and training organization that has educated over 2 million people and worked with hundreds of the world's largest organizations and corporations on how to make change. They are also the authors of two very popular books, The Lives Crucial Conversations and Crucial Confrontations, which were published by Alpha Books in September 2000.

PART II. TURN CHANGE TO NUMBER
Let's return to the Guinea worm program at a city in Nigeria, North Africa, to answer this question. Assume you're accompanying General Gowon to a village in order to assist people overcome their fears of change. The way people think has shifted. Changing behavior will undoubtedly be challenging. What's the next step, then?
Most of us have our own strategies for turning things around, such as passing legislation, threatening consequences, or implementing a training program. Private approaches are not inherently bad, but they are overly simplistic. It's the equivalent of climbing the Himalayas with only one bag. There's nothing wrong with making beverages and snacks, but you'll need a lot more. Attempting to solve a complicated problem with a simple approach will not generate results.
However, most individuals simply employ one rotation approach. Ask them, for example, how they intend to transform sluggish personnel into productive individuals and how they come up with new training programs - a program similar to the one that they believe led GE's stock soaring in the 1990s. A training program might give you a head start, but a training class is like discarded salt
when it comes to creating a great culture. When you ask politicians what they've done to combat crime, they'll tell you that they've tried to enhance the sentence length in criminal cases. This metric, too, failed to provide meaningful results. When you ask community leaders what strategies they're adopting to combat childhood obesity, they'll brag about their most recent project: eliminating school candy vending machines. learn Be truth. How many individuals do not wish to find a quick solution to the problem? A magical weight reduction drug, a smart marital solution, or a $500 DVD bundle are all possibilities. If you give us just one item, we'll be willing to go to any length to get it.
To resolve these challenges, however, a combination of techniques aimed at a variety of decisive actions is required. In fact, all of the swing masters have shown this basic idea. There is no single formula for their success. Indeed, some people succeed while others continue to fail. They develop their turnaround tactics more than they planned since they are driven to succeed. Everything they have accomplished is not by chance.
We learnt in Chapter 2 that merely repeating a few key actions on a regular basis can result in significant, long-term improvements. Another issue is that after you've influenced some conduct, you'll get some force that promotes or discourages proper action, as well as the same power that may encourage or discourage reasonable activity. You will undoubtedly be in trouble if you ignore this capability.
But today we understand the potential to shape human behavior into a holistic pattern that organizes our thoughts, selects a set of turnaround methods, integrates them into a coherent strategy, and, finally, makes change a constant.
MASTER THE SIX RESOURCES OF TRANSFER
This is how the model works. The majority of factors that impact human behavior work on the basis of two mind maps. Can I do what has to be done?
and Is it worth doing?
are two questions that one individual poses at the end of the day. Am I capable?
is the first question, and Am I motivated?
is the second statement. That is why, while numerous causes impact people's activities, from peer pressure at school to raising awareness of the effects of illiteracy among a community's members to creating an institutional class, All of these tactics operate in one of two ways when dealing with overwhelming rage in Beverly Hills. They give the motivation or capacity to act decisively. Some folks use both methods. The first two parts of our paradigm are motivation and ability. These two components are divided into personal, social, and material resources.
These three sources of rotation represent interdisciplinary knowledge: psychology, social psychology, and organizational theory. We were able to generate strategies from the known stock of turning techniques by examining these three resources. Examine the many rotation sources that rotation agents employ. If you find it tough to comprehend, don't be concerned. The numerous rotation techniques will be explained in depth in the following six chapters. In fact, you'll be surprised at how many techniques there are for changing your life. However, you will now be able to make conscious use of this resource when it is required.
Swinging masters frequently mix essential actions with inner motivations and specific behaviors through diligent practice on an individual level. They employ the power of social mobility to develop motivation and the ability to make significant decisions at the group level. Swing masters utilize a Reasonable Reward System to encourage people to select definite behaviors, which is something few people do. Finally, they aim to ensure that everything is in place to support important behaviors, including systems, procedures, visual signals, work layouts, equipment, supplies, machines, and so on.
The masters of rotation know just how much power it needs to make the model successful once it's in place.
The six sources of rotation can be represented using the following model: Let's travel back to a Nigerian hamlet to see how the Guinea worms are killed in order to better comprehend their performance. frightening. We know that the fluke can be killed with only three decisive measures by the locals. People must first filter the water. Is this a challenging task? If a person is still infected with the fluke, he should contact the public water supply unit until the source of the illness is discovered. Simply avoid any water sources. Finally, locals must speak with a neighbor in person if he or she does not filter the water or is contaminated with fluke. We already know three ways to get rid of the Guinea worm, so the turnaround plan doesn't appear to be too difficult. But, before we give heartfelt speeches and distribute beautiful brochures, let's take a look at how six different influences are affecting our strategy.
Source 1: Personal motives. When the Guinea fluke is present in the body of the sufferer, it produces excruciating discomfort. Immersing the person in water is the only method to ease the pain. That implies the victim has a personal motive to perform the polar opposite of one of the key behaviors, which is to avoid water. Your turnaround strategy will fail if you don't address your inner motives.
Source 2: Personal ability. Many individuals are unaware of how to filter water effectively. Surname attempted to obey General Gowon's orders, but Guinea fever continued to spread. They mistakenly spill water and contaminate water sources when purifying water, thus promoting disease development. Alternatively, they pour filtered water into a jug with unfiltered water. They still require instruction to improve their specific skills.
Source 3: Social dynamics. When it comes to spreading the information about how to get rid of Guinea worms among the locals, hardly one pays attention. You are an outsider who should not be trusted. You may have an excellent connection with the village head, but there are three sets of people missing in the village, two of whom despise the village chief and will refuse to accept whatever you provide. You will have major social motivation issues if conditions do not alter.
Source 4: Social ability. If you want to be successful, everyone in your community has to support each other. No one can solve an epidemic on their own when it spreads. This is the time to say we need the entire community.
Someone else should obtain water for a person who has a fluke infection, for example. People must band together to have adequate water bottles and filters when it comes to water purification. You will lose a big component of social ability if people do not seek aid from others.
Source 5: Motivation mechanism. Those afflicted with tapeworms are unable to cease working due to their existing financial condition (making a living). They are, nevertheless, compelled to labor near water sources. They must obtain water for crops and cattle just to have enough food for each meal. This indicates that the three deterministic actions will not be accommodated
