    On Verdant Paths - T.J. Moore

    Forward

    I dedicate this volume to my Lord and Saviour,

    Jesus Christ—who has made all His creation to

    speak of His marvellous wisdom, reality, provision

    and providence, and to give Him praise.

    I also thank my wife for allowing me release to those

    precious quiet times in the woods, fields and morning

    prayer, where my poems are inspired.

    Final thanks belongs to the life and works of Amy

    Carmichael, missionary to India and author.

    O Stone Child1

    O Stone Child, you know not the years,

    Forever couched down, you know not of tears;

    Ever fascinated through your endless stone gaze,

    Ever seeing clearly, despite cold morning’s haze.

    Though seasons change, fickle day by day,

    In many a ways, let us be more like you:

    Let our faith be set as stone, our whole lives through.

    Receiving all without word said.

    They simply dig, they simply swim,

    They simply catch, though bright or dim.

    Whether vine or tree, nest or ledge

    Provides that on which they must be fed,

    They’ll find it sure and give God praise

    As creation sings to the Ancient of Days.

    Let me so rise and sing,

    In thanks to the Lord for what the day brings.

    As sure as grain for birds that fly,

    As sure as prey for those that spy;

    I will find all that I need,

    For faithful is the One who feeds.

    Thanks for Cold3

    Cold brings shivers right down our backs,

    Ice that expands the insidious cracks;

    Cold brings snow that clogs the
