Welcome to Lakeside Village
The Lakeside Neighborhood Watch announced the new arrival. Snoot and Flute, two great horned owls, resided in the tallest pine tree at the entrance to the secluded living area. A red SUV pulled into the neighborhood and parked. The two owls flew over the car, around the driveway and perched on the roof, heads bobbing up and down to see what was happening. They sat patiently, watching, and waiting.

The front door burst open, and a huge Dalmatian barreled through, dragging his leash behind him. There was no human attached to the other end. A loud shrill scream cut through the silence. The dog looked around the room, panicked, then saw a small-sized human and ran toward her. He jumped into her lap, knocking over a drink and her pile of schoolbooks, to wait out the commotion.
