Julia is excited because today is the day she goes on Grammy's Treasure Hunt. She is a typical ten-year-old girl with one exception: Julia is a very accomplished chess player. Her adventure involves a unique and unusual chess game that she participates in on her quest to win her treasure. Treasure Hunt Day Is Here

Come on, Grammy. Come on, Papa. Answer the door! Julia says impatiently. She rings the doorbell. Ding-dong. Ding-dong. Come on, where are you? she says. I can't wait another minute to find out about my treasure hunt day. It's finally here. I have been waiting so long to go on my adventure. Ding-dong.

Just then, the big brown front door opens. Papa's friendly voice says, Well, well, well, hi, Julia. Welcome! It sounds like you are a little bit excited for your adventure.

Oh, Papa, says Julia, "you don't even know. I am super excited and cannot wait to see if I find my treasure. Can we start it now?"

Julia is a very outgoing, friendly, and animated ten-year-old. She has long, dark brown hair, big brown eyes, and lightly tanned skin. She is thin and an average height for her age. Julia is very smart, competitive, thinks strategically, learns quickly, and is a bit of a perfectionist. In addition, she is a very good chess player.

The treasure hunt will start in Grammy and Papa's country home that is surrounded by beautiful mountains and greenery. There is wildlife such as bobcats and deer that often pass through the neighborhood on their way to their nature homes they made in the woods. There are also lots of birds, especially hawks and eagles, that can be spotted flying around the nearby lakes.

Papa and Grammy have ten grandchildren. All of them will be going on their own adventures to search for their rewards. Each reward will be one of life's most precious treasures. Today is Julia's turn.

With a twinkle in his bright blue eyes and a big smile, Papa says, "Let's not wait another minute! Come on in. Let's find Grammy and see
