About this ebook

Daniel was only a teenager when he was taken captive in Babylon. For the next 70 years, he lived far from home in an unfamiliar culture, suffering under an enemy king who worshipped false gods. Yet Daniel was faithful to God.

In this 30-day men’s devotional, author Vince Miller asks: Do you want to be a man who is faithful all the years of your life, no matter what persecution or circumstances you face? Every devotion in Daniel: A Strong Man Is Faithful includes a verse from the book of Daniel and a thoughtful reflection that motivates you to stay strong in difficult times. This in-depth book also includes:

  • Insights from the New Testament about living as a man of God
  • Challenging application questions and action steps
  • Prayer prompts focused on turning to God for guidance and strength

For any man who wants to learn from someone who was faithful even when society pushed him not to be, Daniel: A Strong Man Is Faithful is an accessible yet hard-hitting devotional that reminds us that faithfulness to God is possible even in a faithless world.

    About Vince Miller

Vince Miller was born in Vallejo, California, and grew up on the West Coast. At twenty, he made a profession of faith while in college and felt a strong, sudden call to work in full-time ministry. After college and graduate school, he invested two decades working with notable ministries like Young Life, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, the local church, and in senior interim roles. He currently lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, with his wife, Christina, and their three teenage children.

In March 2014, he founded Resolute out of his passion for discipleship and leadership development of men. This passion was born out of his personal need for growth. Vince turned everywhere to find a man who would mentor, disciple, and develop him throughout his spiritual life. He often received one of two answers from well-meaning Christian leaders: either they did not know what to do in a mentoring relationship or they simply did not have the time to do it.

Vince soon learned that he was not alone. Many Christian men were seeking this type of mentoring relationship. Therefore, he felt compelled to build an organization that would focus on ensuring that men who wanted to be discipled would have the opportunity and that mentors would have the tools to disciple other men.

Vince is an authentic and transparent leader who loves to communicate with men and has a deep passion for God’s Word. He has authored several books, and he is the primary creator of all Resolute content and training materials.

    Introduction

Daniel is a fascinating character study. His story begins when, as a teenager, he is taken into captivity, reeducated, renamed, and possibly castrated. He becomes a refugee in Babylonia under multiple kings, but one in particular—Nebuchadnezzar—looms large in Daniel’s story. King Nebuchadnezzar led the greatest superpower nation that had ever existed. He ruled much of the known world.

In this book, we are going to read the compelling account of these two men. In the end, we will learn how to suffer under an enemy king, in a foreign land, underneath unbiblical ideologies, with strange gods, against jealous plots, and before powerful officials—and still remain faithful.

The question I have for you as we begin is: Are you that man?

Or maybe the better question is: Do you want to be that man?

If so, you are studying the right book of the Bible, because Daniel is the man to show us the way.

    It’s Always a Slow Fade

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the vessels of the house of God.

    Daniel 1:1–2

In these verses, we are confronted with a monumental question: Why did God give his land, people, and leader over to be enslaved by an enemy superpower? We can’t
