About this ebook

A family's dream home turns into their worst nightmare.

Cat, Shaun, and their son, Sam, find themselves trapped in a house where reality distorts, and terror lurks in every corner.

As they struggle to understand the malevolent forces at play, they must confront not only supernatural threats but also the darkness within themselves.

With each passing day, the house reveals its sinister secrets, testing the bonds of their family and pushing them to the brink of sanity.

In this house, nothing is as it seems, and survival becomes a game of life and death.

Will they escape the grip of the Dome, or will they become its next victims? Enter if you dare, for The Dome is more than just a house—it's a living, breathing entity with a will of its own.

I mean, we asked to be remote, Shaun said, releasing a sharp, drawn-out whistle between his teeth.

Catherine—Cat—glanced sideways at her husband, hands on hips, slowly forming beer belly straining his navy t-shirt. Her own hands squeezed the shoulders of their nine-year-old son, Sam, who was pulled nearly against her chest. The top of his head already came to her chin, and she wondered, as mothers often do, where the time had gone.

    What do you think, Sam?

Sam blew air out between flittering lips, and said, It looks like a giant bowling ball.

    He wasn’t wrong.

The realtor had promised the next stop on their tour today would be unique and the most remote of the homes up for sale currently. One would think there would be more than a handful of homes in the Northwestern Territories Province, but what did Cat know? She’d grown up just outside Vancouver her whole life, built her own family there as well. But here they were, many hours north, looking for a way to start anew, leave all that suburban living behind, where people were too nosy, and no one forgot anything.

Well, what do we think? Shall we take a gander inside? The realtor, who Cat had momentarily forgotten was beside her, spoke with a nasal tone and a very heavy Canadian accent. She fidgeted with the wire-rimmed glasses on her face, clutching a folder and her phone to her chest. Her professional attire, a cream and tan plaid tweed skirt suit with nude pumps, stood out against the surrounding forest. When Cat simply nodded in reply, the realtor took the lead, her heels digging into the light brown dirt that doubled as a driveway and path up the stairs to the house.

As they followed in her wobbly wake, Cat stared ahead, taking in the obscure, round shape of the wood-built home, shingles meeting the curve halfway down, nearly to the top of the front door.

There was a steep set of stairs to climb, each person gripping onto the railing as they ascended, but it opened up to a wrap-around balcony, which slightly made up for the groaning Cat was doing internally.

We can explore outside after we take a little peek inside, the realtor said, low ponytail swaying as she gestured around. This was their third stop, and the way the woman spoke, as though addressing children, was grating on Cat’s nerves. "I just need you all to see what’s in store for us inside! You’ll be delighted."

Everyone obediently removed their dusty, dirty shoes to leave on the balcony before crossing over the threshold. The moment Cat’s socked foot came down on the linoleum, a chill raced through her body, and she felt, briefly, as though the air had been sucked from her lungs. She glanced nervously at Shaun, who was inspecting the goosebumps on his arms.

Geez, he said, speaking aloud what Cat had been thinking. I know it’s late summer, but I didn’t think show houses blasted A/C on full.

Hmm, that’s odd, the realtor said, walking quickly into the kitchen. She set her folder and phone down on the permanent island, skirting around it in her panty-hosed feet, heading straight for the thermostat. She tapped on it with a perfectly manicured nail and declared,
