This is my prayer for you: that your love will grow more and more; that you will have knowledge and understanding with your love; that you will see the difference between good and bad and will choose the good; that you will be pure and without wrong for the coming of Christ; that you will be filled with the good things produced in your life by Christ to bring glory and praise to God.

    About the Author

    INTRODUCTION

Have you ever found yourself in a situation and wondered if someone else would feel the same way as you in the same situation? Have you ever wondered if how you handled your experience could help someone going through the same or similar situation?

Have you ever been so passionate about something and wanted desperately to teach, coach and mentor others so they can learn from your mistakes and experiences? I am passionate about leadership and mentoring and sharing everything I can with others to help them learn and grow. The other thing I am passionate about is honoring God in everything that I think, say, or do. That does not mean that I don’t struggle and mess up. I do, but I know I must remain strong in my faith and continue to seek God in prayer and by reading and studying His word.

Over the last several years I have had many ups and downs as I strive to always keep my life on the right path. God has blessed me with the ability to write my experiences down and then share them with others. Through all those struggles and disappointments, I have learned that God is always in control and His timing is never off.

My hope for you as you spend time in prayer and reflection is that as you journey with me over the next 17-weeks, 119-days, is that you will find some strength and courage as you JumpStart Your Leadership and Spiritual Growth. You are not alone, and you cannot do this alone. If there are days that you find it difficult to look within and self-reflect that means you are convicted. Nothing more, nothing less. Don’t give up because it’s hard, persevere because of the blessing you will gain or the blessing you will become to someone else.

Beginning Prayer: Dear Lord, as I begin this journey please open my eyes, heart, and mind to be able to understand Your word and apply it daily to everything I do. As I pray and reflect show me both the good things I need to enhance and the bad I need to change. Surround me with men and women of character to hold me accountable. Help me to learn to be a better Christian and leader and honor You in all I do. Forgive me when I have failed and allow me to forgive others. Lord, as I begin this journey, please remove any challenges or obstacles in my way. Help me to understand and embrace any changes that I need to make even if it is friends and others. Teach me to be a positive example and lead well. Thank you for your blessings in advance! Amen

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

    Matthew 7:24

We must build a strong foundation in order to grow and understand who we are.

Day 1: Understanding your belief system.

Many of us were taught by our parents. They instilled in us things such as: our faith, family values, morals, sense of pride, and others. For those who may not have had positive role models as parents, you probably learned from someone in your life who taught you the importance of standing up for what you believe. That may look different for many of us, but we were given the basic understanding that we should have a strong faith and belief system. Some of you may be saying, I missed this step all together, I had no parents and no one who stepped up until later in life. No worries, we are going to learn about the importance of moving forward and building a strong foundation.

Prayer of the Day: Lord, please help me to understand my belief system. Help me to begin today to build a strong foundation. Send me the right people to help me understand and build a strong foundation. Amen

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

    Matthew 7:25

Day 2: If you don’t have a strong foundation, you will not be able to take a stand when challenges come!

For me that foundation was and is rooted in faith in God and a strong family filled with love. I was taught right from wrong and that it was my choice to establish my own system. I knew that there would be consequences for anything that I thought, spoke or did. I have not always made the right choices, but I have learned from my mistakes, and I am much better because of them. You too can learn from your mistakes and build a strong foundation. It is never too late to get started.

Prayer of the Day: Dear Lord, guide me today as I begin to rebuild, repair, or start the process to a stronger foundation. Help me to understand what steps I need to take to build the kind of foundation that Matthew talks about. Give me wisdom, knowledge, and strength. Amen

He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure. Isaiah 33:6

Day 3: For those of you not given a strong foundation growing up, there is a greater challenge.

You have not been given the basic stuff to begin to build your foundation, never mind a strong one. You must overcome this obstacle and be very intentional to find out your belief system and how to build a strong foundation. You need to know what it means to have someone to believe in or rely on in every situation.

Prayer of the Day: Dear Lord, I do not have a strong foundation or belief system. Please help me to understand the importance of having one in my life. Please send me strong people with outstanding characters to help me understand how to build my belief system and my foundation. Amen

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the
