Lightbulb Moments With God! - Carol Cunningham

    A LIGHTBULB MOMENT

While listening to a podcast the speaker said the word illuminate and immediately an image of a food strainer came to mind. You know those silver metal ones with holes for draining pasta? I was like, What? And suddenly I could sense in my spirit I was being told to let my mind be like that strainer, as I begin this new day, this new week, this new year.

One definition of Illuminate I found was: to enlighten spiritually or intellectually.

The holy spirit was certainly shining his light on my thoughts this day to bring illumination to this key point… My mind.

Don’t let the negative things of last year or past years stay mixed in with all the good God has done for me and my family. Use my mind like that strainer to retain only the good I have been given and let whatever bad be filtered out. The best way to forget the bad things in life is to focus on remembering the good!

Remember what God has done for you. Let His grace and mercy comfort you and remind you of His unfailing love.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.(Psalm 103:2)

    A LIGHTBULB MOMENT

I was recently doing chores to get the house ready for the New Year when this thought came to me, What am I doing to prepare my spirit for the new year like I'm preparing this house?

And suddenly the word confidence came to mind along with this phrase that the spirit birthed in me: "Faith is the fruit that grows out of the soil of confidence in God."

Confidence, one definition: the state of feeling certain about the truth of something or someone.

For my faith to grow stronger, my confidence in God must be unmovable, and rock solid. But how do I achieve that?

I can achieve it with the same zeal and determined spirit I had to clean my house. That same spirit will help me cultivate the soil of confidence for the seed of my faith to grow as I water it though daily reading and studying of God’s word, staying connected to Him through prayer and as Hebrews 10:25 reminds me "not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another" for I will reap benefits when I gather with other believers at Church, and in different small group settings.

The seed is planted… the watering must now begin.

Guess what? That’s exactly what I’m going to do.

As the spirit asked me, I now ask you, "What are you doing to cultivate the soil of confidence to grow your faith?"

"So, we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?(Hebrews 13:6)

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.(Hebrews 10:35)

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him…” — (Jeremiah 17:7)

    NUGGETS OF LIGHT

Are you facing a problem that appears to have no visible solution? When God is growing our character, he sometimes will test us with what seems like unsolvable problems.

The Bible tells us that God can help us solve even the most perplexing challenges.

He wants us to seek Him, depend on Him, and trust Him. Will you do that today? Will you ask God for His help to solve the problems you face? Seek Him and do not doubt His love or His willingness to help you.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. —(James 1:5-6)

    Prayer:

Father, I don't understand why this is happening or how to handle this situation, but I know you love me, and I know you will help me, so I give this _____________to You. I'm believing you for the help I need. In Jesus' name, I ask, and I pray, amen.

May God’s peace and blessings surround you

    A LIGHTBULB MOMENT

I was reading my Bible when suddenly a cloudy, overcast sky appeared on the horizon bringing about a feeling of dread and unease. As I continued to read, the sky was suddenly illuminated once again with the brightness and warmth of the sun, a brightness that radiated hope to uplift my spirit.

It was at that very moment I suddenly realized something: just like those clouds came to try and obscure what was a bright sunny day, the enemy of our soul tries to do the same.

I was encouraged that God was speaking to me not to lose hope when sunny days become cloudy, because just like the sun broke through the cloudy sky just now, Jesus! The! Son! will break through with his light and his power to dispel whatever tries to overcloud my life... and he will do the same for you.

For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.(2 Corinthians 4:6)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. —(Romans 15:13)

“You, Lord, are my light; you dispel my darkness.” — (2 Samuel 22:29)

    A LIGHTBULB MOMENT

From nowhere I heard in my spirit… Submit,Think about it.

SUBMIT: one definition; to yield oneself to the authority or will of another.

How often have we heard people or ourselves quote this part of scripture? ["…Resist the devil and he will flee from you" – (James 4:7)] and then we wonder why the enemy is not fleeing?

Is the reason he’s not fleeing because we tend to leave off the first part of that verse? The most important part is… Submit to GOD! It is only in our submission to God that we are empowered by his Holy Spirit to resist the attacks and tactics of the evil one. When you submit to God, he empowers you to resist the devil.

So right now, I must ask myself, "Am I truly being submitted to God? Have I submitted my will, my thoughts, my words, my actions, my plans, and
