    DEDICATION

    To my beloved husband,

who transformed my darkest fears into a captivating fairytale,

just as Mr. Black did for Iris.

    CHAPTER one

    A Motel Room

"I ’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE , IRIS," Mr. Black said.

One day, she would stop calling him that.

But her husband would always be that.

Her former butler, her best friend, her confidant.

    She smiled weakly.

    He always knew.

She averted her eyes and continued unpacking her things.

It was only a few weeks ago when she had gone against her immortal family and married her soul mate.

But her sister Cala’s voice still reverberated in her ears.

When? demanded Cala. When she’s five hundred years old and the Butler is long past dead? She’ll learn to feel nothing, Cala said harshly. Just at you expect me to. Just as you already have.

Iris had never heard Cala speak up to their father, the high Air Elemental. But every word rang true.

Look at me, Mr. Black said, stepping closer to Iris in the dimly lit motel room. she put down the black stockings. His crisp black tuxedo contrasted wildly against the worn furnishings.

He was always the best thing in the room.

She would do anything to spend the rest of her eternal life with this man.

    To deserve him.

He took her pointed chin in his hands.

    You see that?

    He glanced towards the window.

The sun was rising, filling with orange and pink clouds. She could almost feel the cool water against her skin. Touch the fluffy towel he handed her to dry off.

    I see it.

Mr. Black took her hand in his.

A tear streaked down her face.

There was once a time when she loved sunrise. When every one meant another day with him. Now all it meant was another day closer to his impending death.

It was a fact of humanity.

    And she was not human.

That means there’s time, Iris. We have time.

    What if-

They can’t separate us. They won’t find us, as long as we keep moving. We’ll find a way.

Iris nodded, looking into those dark, compassionate eyes. A calm spread in her.

    If you say so.

"I FORGET. YOU’RE USED TO not sleeping," Mr. Black commented as he watched Iris nervously flit around the room from his spot on the bed.

    He was wearing his pajamas.

She was wearing a glittery gold mini dress with a built-in corset. Rhinestones were set in the part of her hair. She could have been a gladiator or a princess.

Right now, she was a prisoner.

You know what this place is missing, she said breathlessly.

A coffee maker? he asked, taking the last drink from his paper cup before setting it on the nightstand.

Iris laughed, glancing around the sparse room. Mr. Black’s suits and crisp white shirts hung in the closet, an ironing board stood to one side with a cooling iron on top.

The radiator quietly hummed next to them.

Drapes were pulled tight against a neon glow outside.

A swimming pool, she said matter of factly. She stretched her hands before her in a butterfly motion and then brought them above her in a stretch.

I’m going to go for a walk. Stretch my legs. Want to come?

    I’m a little tired.

Alright, I’ll be back in a bit.

Iris stepped closer, wedged herself between his open legs hanging off the bed. She took his face in his hands and brought her mouth to his.

After a moment, he moved his lips to her neck and sucked on her delicate skin. She moaned openly, bracing herself on his shoulders, her legs jelly beneath her.

Mr. Black, she breathed as he clasped her hips in one hand and tilted her chin at an angle so he could taste more of her.

I can’t believe you’re mine, he murmured. Every time I look at you, I’m still surprised.

He unlaced the back of her corset and ran his fingers along her spine. She arched her back at his touch, shivering in anticipation, forgetting her intention to leave the room.

Pulling down her dress and letting it fall to the floor, Iris revealed herself to her love. His eyes smoldered as he captured her mouth again. Raising his hands, he caressed her small breasts, earning a mewling from Iris.

She moved her hands from his shoulders and yanked off his shirt, exposing his toned alabaster body.

Lowering herself to the floor, Iris got on her knees before him. She was the immortal, but to her, he was her God.

He smoothed her hair back and she pulled down his pants.

You don’t have to do that, Iris, he said.

She wrapped her hands around his unveiled cock, stroking it lightly.

You always treat me like your queen, can’t you be my king?

With that, she took him in her mouth, running her tongue over him, exploring.

He groaned, closing his eyes and putting his hand behind her head. She felt him struggle in her grasp, fighting the urge to push himself further down her throat.

She hummed with desire, knowing that she was giving him the same pleasure he always gave to her. Memories of all the times he pleasured her, with his fingers, with his mouth, with his cock, enveloped her.

She bounced up and down, taking it as deeply as she could go without choking.

I wish I could take more, she whispered between breaths.

You’ll get there, he gasped, encouraging her.

She took a deep breath and pushed further, letting him stretch her throat until tears sprang to her eyes.

    Even then, she didn’t stop.

So beautiful, he said, stroking her face as he came down her throat.

    CHAPTER two

    Familiar Strangers

THE WARM YELLOW SUN DROWNED out the offensive neon light of the motel sign.

This was the sixth place they had gone in two weeks.

    Iris was tired.

She couldn’t sleep, being an Air Elemental, but the sun normally gave her energy. So, she sat, soaking up the rays on top of the green metal roof. They warmed her skin, but still she felt cold.

How long could they do this? How long before her family found her? Or even worse, the High Air Elementals?

How long before Mr. Black died of old age or any manner of human ailments or accidents?

She had never felt the fear of dying. Sometimes, she even welcomed it. But that
