About this ebook

It was the decisive engagement of the Italian War from 1521 to 1526 between the Valois Kingdom of France and the Habsburg empire of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and ruler of Spain, Austria, the Netherlands and Two Sicilies. The battle was fought in the Visconti of Mirabello di Pavia park, outside the city walls. In this simulation of the battle of Pavia we are going to test a hypothesis in which the French would have strategically taken advantage of their situation in interior lines; tactically had established in a safe place both in the internal perimeter - in front of the city - and in the external perimeter - the accesses to Pavia (note: as we saw Caesar in our book “Alesia”); and, technically, to have planned and trained the necessary coordination between the various defensive forces. Supported  by  a  summary  of  the  historical  fact  (war, campaign  and  /  or  battle),  I  try  to  analyze  and highlight  the  decisive  factors,  before  simulating alternative  what  if…  hypotheses  through  a  board game.  In  the  simulation,  all  the  possibilities  of  the study's  purpose  are  completed,  when  the  past  of history  is  analyzed  based  on  the  theory  of  the present  and  designed  for  similar  situations  in  the future.  So  far  I  have  published  the  following  series: I.  Historical  Simulation  of  the  Wars  of  the  First Empires  in  2010;  VIII.  Historical  Simulation  of  the First  World  War  in  2011;  II.  Historical  Simulation  of the  Wars  in  Classical  Greece  in  2012;  III. Historical  Simulation  of  the  Roman  Wars  in  2016; and  IV.  Historical  Simulation  of  Wars  in  the Medieval  Era  in  2018.  I  plan  to  publish  the  following series:  V.  Historical  Simulation  of  Wars  in  the Modern  Era  (1453  to  1774);  "VI.  Historical Simulation  of  Wars  in  the  Age  of  Revolutions  (1775-

Keywords:  History.  Art  of  War.  Science  of  War.

Names  of  people  and  places  will  be  kept  in  their original  languages,  unless  there  is  an  English  form necessary  for  understanding.  Titles  or  technical terms  in  other  languages,  when  there  is  no  better translation  into  English,  will  be  kept  and  explained the  first  time  they  appear.

When  the  available  bibliographic  sources  have gaps  in  organizations  and  historical  maneuvers,  I will  fill  them  in  the  most  scientific  way  possible, crossing  and  /  or  merging  references,  establishing an  average  in  the  numbers,  and  thus  meet  the needs  of  my  hypothesis  to  be  studied.

Italian  War  from  1521  to  1526

The  battle  of  Pavia,  on  February  24,  1525,  was the  decisive  engagement  of  the  Italian  War  from 1521  to  1526  between  the  Valois  Kingdom  of France  and  the  Habsburg  empire  of  Charles  V (1500-1558),  Holy  Roman  Emperor  and  ruler  from Spain,  Austria,  the  Netherlands  and  Two  Sicilies.

Im  1:  Imperial  domains  in  1519.

The  French,  in  possession  of  Lombardy  at  the beginning  of  this  war,  were  forced  to  abandon  it after  being  defeated  in  battle  in  the  year  1522. Determined  to  recover  it,  King  Francis  ordered  an invasion  of  the  region  at  the  end  of  1523,  under  the command  of  Guillaume  Gouffier,  lord  of  Bonnivet, who  was  also  defeated  by  imperial  troops  and forced  to  withdraw  to  France.
