Trina Phillips
Trina is an vintage explorer who mastered the art of travel before smartphones were even a twinkle in Steve Jobs' eye. Armed with nothing but a dog-eared Lonely Planet guide, a dodgy phrasebook, and a camera that required actual film (gasp!), she conquered the world one hilarious misadventure at a time. In 2017, she and her partner-in-crime bid adieu to their possessions and embarked on a wild journey across the globe. Fast forward to today, and she's flying solo, gallivanting around Africa like a boss. Her love affair with Ghana dates back to 2003, when she first set foot on its vibrant soil. Now, she's here to share her wisdom, wit, and wicked sense of humor in her opinionated travel guide. Get ready to fall head over heels for Ghana—buckle up, it's gonna be a riot! Happy Travels, fellow adventurers!

Accra - Trina Phillips
Welcome!
Buckle up for a travel guide that's as sassy as it is informative.
Let's get one thing straight: I'm not here to regurgitate stale descriptions of places I've never laid eyes on. If I haven't been there, I'll tell you straight up. None of that recycled fluff from three decades ago. We're living in the now, darling.
Prepare for the real deal: juicy stories, brutal honesty, and opinions hotter than the Sahara at high noon.
And forget about flipping through pages for the basic info you could find with a lazy Google search. That's right, all that best time to visit
and currency exchange rates
jazz will be chilling at the back, where it belongs. But hey, who reads that stuff anyway?
Oh, did I mention I have a YouTube channel? Yeah, I'm not just talking the talk; I'm strutting the walk through Africa, starting with Ghana. Check out This Gal Travels for some real talk and tips on everything from haggling like a pro to escaping the tourist hordes.
In fact, I have a No BS Travel Gear Guide page and video that’s perfect for a trip to Ghana.
AND you can get a FREE Ghana Packing List – in printable PDF. Seriously, I’m gonna set you up.
So grab your passport and pack your sense of humor. We're about to embark on a journey that's as comfortable as it is budget-friendly. Suitcases and sass at the ready, folks. Let's do this!
Accra
Welcome to Accra, where the traffic is more unpredictable than your ex's mood swings.
Sure, it's a beautiful, modern African city, but good luck trying to see any of it without spending half your day stuck in bumper-to-bumper chaos. Seriously, you might as well pack a picnic for the car ride.
I've tried every trick in the book to outsmart Accra's traffic, from leaving at the crack of dawn to sacrificing a goat to the traffic gods. Spoiler alert: nothing works.
But hey, once you finally escape the clutches of the concrete jungle, Accra's actually pretty cool. The locals are as welcoming as your grandma's Sunday roast, and there's enough variety to keep even the pickiest traveler entertained.
Just don't forget your patience along with your mosquito repellent. You'll need it.
Accra City Tour
Paid City Tour vs DIY Tour vs Bus Tour
Accra is full of cultural and historical sights that you’ll hopefully want to make part of your visit so you can actually, you know, learn something about Ghana.
The question is, what’s the best way to see all of these sights?
Fortunately, the places on the list below are fairly close to each other, but that actually makes your decision harder. Pay
