The farmer and The Witch
Long ago there lived a poor farmer in a village. His family consisted of three sons and a wife. Having no land of his own, he lived by cultivating other people's land, cutting wood from the forest, and selling it. Moreover, his sons were not yet of earning age. So, the farmer's family lived very hard. They had to go without food if they were sick.
Once his wife fell seriously ill and died within a few days. What little savings he had, was spent on treating his wife. The death of his wife brought more disaster to his family.
In the morning, He would cook for himself and his sons and go out to work. He had to come again at night and cook for them. The farmer was getting thinner day by day due to overwork.
However, one day the farmer went to the forest to cut wood as he could not find work at another's house. It was evening as he cut wood. He was coming home with wood on his head. There was a huge banyan tree beside the road. A witch lived in a banyan tree. The witch takes a liking to the farmer. Because the farmer was very handsome. The witch learns about the farmer's history with her magic wand. So, the witch decides to become the farmer's wife and go to his house. And will fulfill her evil desires.
As usual, the witch appeared before the farmer in the guise of a beautiful girl. The farmer was surprised to see the teenage girl. The farmer asked the teenage girl, How did you get here?
The witch disguised as a teenage girl replied, I am Paribanu, the only daughter of a Kashimpur zamindar.
I went with my father to Harirampur Zamindar's house for a feast. Unfortunately, on my way home, I fell into the hands of robbers.
I managed to escape before being caught by the robbers. And run and run lost in the deep forest. Later, when I returned to the state, my zamindar father and other royals considered me impure and sent me to exile. As a
