About this ebook
When Pa left Pete in charge of his sisters on the farm overnight he stated only one rule: no talking to the Greens.
No need to spell that out, Pete thinks. Every child knows never to speak to the Greens. An easy rule to follow. The Greens keep to themselves.
Then a Green turns up in the yard with a strange object. The Green wants something. They refuse to leave until Pete figures it out.
And Pete always strives to be neighborly.
"Beingly Neighborly", a science fiction short story originally published in Analog magazine.

BEING NEIGHBORLY
Iguess Sitara IV is a good planet as far as the colonial worlds go. It tends to be hot and humid which Ma in particular hates but I guess that's a good thing for growing crops. The air is breathable, unlike Sitara III where the farmers wear air masks while they work. I'm pretty sure I'd hate that. No, everything around our farm is green, rolling hills covered in row after row of corn, the stalks dancing in whatever breeze they can find. Pa says the green doesn't look right because the constant yellow-gray cloud cover distorts the light. I don't know. I've never been off Sitara IV so I guess I just don't know what green looks like.
Heck, I've only once been off our little farm: the prefabricated
