      Maya stepped out of the patient room. Her hands felt warm and dirty, and despite throwing away the gloves she wore, she felt like there was still blood on her.

      Her shift was almost over. She had been assisting a surgery for the last 6 hours and by hospital rules, she was now supposed to rest.

      Despite feeling energized, she turned towards the locker rooms to change her clothes and go home after the long day she had. She was in no condition to administer the drugs or keep the charts updated.

      She needed to rest.

      She loved being a nurse, not just because she always had a thing for hot doctors, but also because she enjoyed helping people and doing something meaningful. The hours were long, but she knew what she did was very important.

      That was all that mattered.

      Walking across the hall, Maya stepped into the elevator once it was cleared of the patients who were being carried away to surgery.

      She pushed the button that was going to take her to the floor with the changing rooms and watched as the elevator door slowly started to close.

      Suddenly, a hand reached in between the closing doors of the elevator, making them spread open again.

      She lifted her head and met the eyes
