Becoming a Witch Book 6 - Mark Mulle

    Day 1

The Bane group wasn't seen anywhere after disappearing in a cloud of smoke. For a moment, we thought they had left for the day. The next thing we know, the Giant Ravager is ramming against the walls across the other side of the Village!

Look out, they are back! One of the guards shouted.

All men, take to the other side and protect that wall! Ordered Steve.

But his command was futile – as soon as all guards reached the other side, the Giant Ravager teleported again to another side of the wall and started ramming it again, causing massive damage to the once impenetrable cobblestone walls.

That thing is strong, but it’s also quite smart! Steve said. Alright, let’s divide our group into four smaller ones; each takes one side of the wall! South, North, East, West!

Soon, all guards were divided into four smaller groups and headed to different sections of the wall. The Giant Ravager continued teleporting and ramming the wall, rendering the guards’ defense useless. Steve then asked the archers to attack the creature.

We can’t, sir! The leader of the archers said.

    Why not? Steve was confused.

We already have an enemy to deal with, look!

Steve looked to where the archer was pointing at. The Giant Ravager was not the only threat, there was an army coming!

Despite Bez and Dez’s suggestion that bows and arrows were effective against the Illusioner, aiming against it was impossible – he was teleporting.

The enemies are powerful. They can rely on massive damage and magic, Steve observed.

Let me try something, I said.

I waited until the Giant Ravager teleported near us. Once it did, I threw a potion at the creature. Nothing happened. The Giant Ravager was not affected by my potion.

What did you do? Steve asked me.

I used one of my powerful potions on the creature and it didn’t work.

We need more guards! Steve said.

No, we need to buy time. Try to talk to that Illusioner if you can, I suggested.

Illusioner, can we talk. He shouted. Let me know your demands. We surrender!

The Illusioner, riding the Giant Ravager and without stopping the attack, replied:

You already know what I want! Give them to me. Don’t waste my time!

Please, don’t attack the Village. We will give them to you. Steve was doing his best to buy me some time.

The other guards looked at Steve in confusion. However, they knew to trust Steve when it came to winning battles. The Giant Ravager stopped teleporting and approached Steve and me. We were at the top of the South wall.
