I don’t want to go to school today,
said Finn, inviting his 10-month old Labrador puppy Arthur onto his bed.
Finnigan Lewis, you know that you must go. You have had too many days off school already this month,
said his mother opening the blind.
What’s wrong? You don’t have a cold anymore,
she continued, pushing Arty off the bed so that she could lay out her son’s school uniform.
It’s these new boys from Newport, they’re mean to me. It doesn’t matter what I do, they pick on me,
said Finn screwing up his face, determined to be brave and not cry again.
Have you told the teacher?
asked his mother.
No, I haven’t, that’s not going to change anything,
said Finn feeling defeated.
Well, I just might,
said Mum, annoyed that the school would allow her son to be bullied.
