Day One: My Last Mystery
Dear Diary,
My name is Jewels Jones, and even though I’m only a ten-year-old villager girl, I still like to think of myself as a detective-in-training. I’ve already solved one mystery with the help of my friends, so I would say that I have more than the average detective experience for a normal ten-year-old.
In my last diary, I wrote all about my previous mystery. It was wild, but oddly it only involved domesticated animals. The town knew that someone was stealing chickens and pigs from around town, but no one knew who was doing it. I didn’t think much of the whole thing at first because only one chicken had been stolen, but once more animals started to get stolen I began to get suspicious.
Another girl, a human, who liked mystery books, Amber Newstables, joined me at lunch one day and told me that one of her chickens was stolen too, so we paired up to look into the crime a little more. Another boy had an animal stolen too, Benny Johnson. He is a year younger than us, and a human, but we let him join up with us anyway.
We worked together to solve the crime, staking out the crime scenes and doing research. One day, Benny and Amber went off without me and ended up getting arrested and sent to juvie all over a huge misunderstanding. I knew that I had to help them, so I went to look for the thief myself, and I ended up finding where it was hiding all of the stolen animals.
The police had been unhelpful up to this point since I was a kid, so I told my mom everything and she told the police. They investigated the scene and found the animals just like I said they would, and they even found the thief that I told them about. The police thanked me for solving the crime, let my friends out of juvie, and gave us all gift cards that would let us get a free cake for
