It was Yalda Night. At the bottom of the sea, an old fish had gathered around her twelve thousand children and grandchildren and told them this story:
Night of Yalda, is a Persian festival celebrated on the longest and darkest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere i.e., the night of the winter solstice.
Once upon a time, a little black fish lived with his mother in a stream. This stream sprang from the rocky walls of the mountain and ran through the valley. The little black fish and his mother's home was behind a black rock, under a ceiling made of moss. At night, they both slept under the moss. The little black fish was very sad that the moonlight never reached their home and longed to see the light.
The mother and child would chase each other from morning to evening, and sometimes they would join other fish and swim back and forth quickly in one place. This child was the only one - because out of the ten thousand eggs the mother had laid, only this one child had hatched healthy.
For a few days, the little black fish had been lost in thought and spoke very little. He moved listlessly from one side to the other and back again, and most of the time, he fell behind his mother. The mother
