About this ebook
Ellie knows that she is different from her classmates. They do not understand why Ellie goes off by herself at recess and lunch to study nature, or why she is so quiet in class, preoccupied with drawing robots. When Ellie and her parents decide home schooling is a better fit, her world opens up. Ellie discovers that, when you share your dreams, there is a whole community to support you, even when those closest to you do not.

Robots In The Garden
Ellie, you are such a dreamer. Get your head into the real world and start on your chores.
Her mother’s words fell on Ellie like the cold needles of rain this early spring day. Ellie had been excited to tell her mother about her latest ideas for a robot. She could see it all in her imagination, and as her family sat together over breakfast, she described her idea for a garden-watering robot. It was Ellie’s job to water and weed the garden, and she had put a lot of thought into this. The completed robot was clear in Ellie’s mind, and she could picture each step of how she would build her robot. Ellie thought in pictures better than in writing.
