This place is small yet capable of imploding without a single witness. I am in my head with unsettling thoughts because I've encountered a hiccup, a detour, a roadblock, a pimple, a text, an email, a letter, an unexpected knock on the door, an unplanned visit, an interruption, and a disruption from the journey in which I thought I had planned very well. I planned meticulously with vision boards, sticky notes, Google calendar, desk calendar, task reminders, phone alerts, personal apps, as well as personal trainers and assistants. However, life evolves without warnings. Within these pages are specific challenges--afflictions, disruptions, or interruptions--that were embraced and resolved. With these resolutions, it is my deliberate intent to offer hope to any and all who encounter similar hurdles. Be empowered with mental fortitude and equipped with practical principles as you forge ahead in spite of a hiccup, detour, roadblock, or any other disruption that momentarily distracts you from your greatness.

Move forward, readjust, realign, and redefine what this affliction is meant to bring forward. Bring to the forefront your style, grace, savvy, and polished virtues. Allow it! You see the disruption; now let it see you--resilient, persistent, consistent, determined, and unstoppable.

It had been years since they had shared a bed, a conversation, or even a passing glance. They were married yet living single, married but living a loveless life under one roof. It was as though they were living in two parallel universes, barely intersecting except for the essentials of daily life.

There was a time, long ago, when they had been madly in love with each other. But that love had been gone for a long time, replaced by bitter indifference. They went through the motions of being a married couple, but the love was gone.

They slept in separate bedrooms, ate their meals separately, and spent their evenings and weekends doing their own thing. They were two ships passing in the night, living separate lives under the same roof.

The love was gone, but the marriage persisted. It was a loveless marriage, but it was still a marriage. They were bound together by law and by habit, but not by love.

Introduction

This is it—the needed material for a meaningful transformation from ordinary to extraordinary. Moments exactly like this one I'm currently experiencing are necessary. I am a workingwoman with responsibilities, debts, desires, vacation plans, and decor delights that incessantly demand a nod or slight pause. I'm enjoying this house as it is, yet the corner—the one in the family room—now requires a decorative plant of some sort. So I put off an immediate exit to the store to obtain said plant, hoping not to be an impulsive shopper. Ladies, we know how quickly that can set our financial strategy in a tailspin. Let me gather my thoughts and find a more cost-effective way to be my own advocate for empowerment.

Sit for a moment in the moment and be aware of a simple truth. What does a simple truth look like? And don't annoy me while exploring this simple truth. At what point did I decide to write this account of a reflection of a portion of my life? It was on a workday; as a matter of fact, I was at work. Hold
