    Author's Note

Hello, it's me Jonathan again. At the end of this book, I will be twelve, Holly will be eight, and Peanut (Lewis) will be four.

We all need to learn how to get along. Whether it's with family, neighbors, teachers, employers, or strangers.

After all, we are one huge family.

We should follow 1 Peter 3:8–16 (NIVLB). We should be harmonious and sympathetic (to feel what the other person is feeling), be loving to one another (we are all God's creation, unique, and the color of our blood is the same), be compassionate (have a tender heart toward each other), and be humble (be courteous and polite).

I know it is hard work. It will take practice, practice, and more practice every day, doing it repeatedly until it becomes second nature.

We must remember that God works through us, not to us.

I hope you will enjoy reading about our adventures. I enjoyed writing the book, and now I am sharing the book with you.

Remember, all blessings come from God.

    Enjoy!

    The Hill and Water

We had been getting ready for our family road trip today. I was so excited! Before we left, Dad needed to pray.

Dad said, "Please, dear Father, give us traveling mercy to and from the Valley of Volcanoes State Park. May we learn something today as we enjoy your creation and the time spent in your presence. Amen."

Once we got to the state park, the first thing we did was to stop at the Ranger Station to get a map of the park.

Dad looked at the map and said, "Our first stop will be the Hot Mud Pots. The trail is almost a mile, which should be easy."

We got into the truck, and before you knew it, Dad said, We're here.

As soon as we opened the door to the truck, you could hear a sound like boiling water where the bubbles popped, and it smelled like rotten eggs (Yuck!).

We walked through a flowering meadow before reaching the Pots. The meadow was a kaleidoscope of colors.

Mom, what are all these flowers called? asked Jonathan.

Mom replied, "The ones with pealike flowers of blue to lilac
