The Power of the Blood and the Red Heifer - Lila Langis

    Acknowledgements

Our Christian history is full of beautiful men and women of integrity who lived fully consecrated to GOD, so many of whom were of Jewish descent; I think of the Early Church. We build on what they laid their lives down to establish. What an inspiration they are to us today.

In this text, I make several references to Kevin J. Conner and his book: THE FEASTS OF ISRAEL, which proved to be extremely helpful to me in deciphering the Feasts of the LORD. I also thank Pastor Jimmy Swaggart for his commentary in The EXPOSITOR’s STUDY BIBLE, again most instructive.

I am most grateful to Reverends David Hernandez, Jean Paul Jackson, Vlad Savchuk, Ted Sr. & Tiff Shuttlesworth for their devotion to GOD and for their ministry to my spirit; may you be blessed in well-doing.

You will find most of the Scripture references in this text are from the Authorized King James Version, except where indicated. Also, I have written using the masculine with the intention of including the feminine where appropriate.

All credit goes to Holy Spirit for whatever you find of spiritual value in this book. I take full responsibility for any inadvertent errors. As you read on, listen for the confirmation of His Voice; act on what He impresses and be blessed.

    Chapter 1

    JUDAISM: EFFECTUAL PRECURSOR to CHRISTIANITY

    T

his chapter is meant as an overview of how the two Testaments complement one another not as an all-inclusive study. Accepting all Scripture is inspired by GOD and must be taken in context one can see how both Old and New Testaments paint a more complete picture of what GOD is communicating.

All Scripture is given by Inspiration of God, and is profitable for Doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in Righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.   (2 Tim. 3:16, 17)

The Bible in its entirety, Old and New Testaments as inspired by Holy Spirit affirms the GOD of Israel is Sovereign and Jesus of Nazareth is Messiah; there’s no conflict, contradiction, or inconsistency of these themes when interpreted correctly. The Old Testament and the New Testament complement one another; each Testament has its own perspective yet remains true to the overall theme in every detail.

All Scripture is profitable and must be viewed through the spectrum of GOD’s intention and purpose, which is accomplished by allowing Holy Spirit to open one’s spiritual eyes of understanding. In other words, GOD is saying something specific therefore the Word of GOD is not open to personal interpretation.

In the Garden of Eden, man freely basked in the Agape Love of his Creator enjoying His Glorious Presence and the extravagant blessings of intimacy. But by embracing self-centeredness, sin was introduced breaking Oneness with the Everlasting GOD, and idolatrous man became hopelessly lost to his divine purpose and desperately in need of the Almighty’s intervention. As a predetermined plan, GOD took action and separated Abram (Abraham) unto Himself and through him He birthed a Nation to speak to and through (Gen. 12:1-3).

From the perspective of devotion to the ONE True GOD, the Old Testament details primarily the origin and history of GOD’s Chosen Nation, and the means He ordained for the Israelite to demonstrate faith in Him through the ordinances of Judaism. While the New Testament mainly introduces Christianity and the early development of Christ’s Holy Church, of which Jews and Gentiles who accept Christ as Messiah are a part.

The Whole Counsel of GOD, Old and New Testaments, demonstrates how the two relationships with GOD complement one another, although experienced in different time frames. The Old Testament deals with the time period before Christ’s Crucifixion, and the New Testament covers Christ’s Ministry on Earth and the period after the Cross. The Old Testament leads, according to GOD’s righteous and confirmed plan, into the New Testament; as Jesus taught, the New Testament completes the Old Testament (Heb. 8:6-13).

Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till Heaven and Earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled.  (Matt. 5:17, 18)

Basically, the Law of Moses, the Books of the Prophets and the Psalms make up the majority of the Old Testament, which was meant to reveal sin to the sinner, so mankind would come to realize his desperate need to be saved from eternal damnation.

This Saviour was and is Messiah Jesus the Son of GOD Who fulfilled all the Law and continues to fulfill the prophecies into the End Times (Matt. 5:17). Jesus, by the power of His Perfect Atoning Blood at the Cross of Crucifixion brought in a New and Better Covenant (Heb. 13:20), which was prophesied by several of the Old Testament Prophets, including Jeremiah.

Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a New Covenant with the House of Israel, and with the House of Judah: Not according to the Covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which My Covenant they broke, although I was a husband unto them, says the LORD: But this shall be the Covenant that I will make with the House of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put My Law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be My People.   (Jer. 31:31-33)

Under this New Covenant of Grace man is no longer trying to live by rules, but now has New Life within his Person through the Agency of Holy Spirit, Who inhabits within every Believer. The Spirit of GOD within transforms by His generating power, every Disciple of Christ into a New Creature, which amounts to instantaneous Sanctification, followed by a progressive maturing.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, Who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the Ministry of Reconciliation.  (2 Cor. 5:17, 18)

So, immediately upon confessing Christ as one’s Saviour a person is declared holy and purified, consecrated unto GOD for His purposes; having been blood-bought his life no longer belongs to himself, but now he has become a Peculiar Person unto GOD Almighty. As a Child of GOD he enters into a process of Sanctification, a time of training and development orchestrated by Holy Spirit Himself. The Disciple of Christ experiences the process of Sanctification as a progressive inward transformation as he learns to submit to Holy Spirit’s unction and convicting power and to yield to His wisdom.

But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him Who created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, Circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.   (Col. 3:8-11)

GOD initiated a Covenant with mankind, specifically with His Chosen Nation Israel, although the divine plan from the beginning was to include the Gentile Nations (Isa. 55:1-7). Fact is He first offered it to Abraham who responded positively to the ONE True GOD and from him GOD birthed His Chosen Nation (Isa. 41:8, 9). Under the New Testament the New Covenant as well was first offered to His Chosen Jewish Nation; Christ’s first Jewish Disciples embraced wholeheartedly the New Covenant of Grace (Acts 10:36-43).

Thus GOD’s intention becomes obvious: Since the Son of Man’s Crucifixion, the Jew practicing Judaism was and is meant to embrace the New Covenant of Grace, Christianity. Messiah ratified this New Covenant by the shedding of His perfectly Holy Blood, which the blood of the animal sacrifices of Judaism pointed to all along (Heb. 8:10-13).

The blood of animal sacrifices could only cover man’s sin, but the Holy Blood of Jesus completely eradicates sin for the Faithful who choose to believe in GOD’s provision through Christ. Salvation from the power of sin and from damnation is a free gift from GOD.  Entrance into the New Covenant of Grace is not attained through man’s merit but by Christ’s Alone; no man can claim to have deserved Salvation for we are all sinners. One must humbly receive Salvation as a gift, for Jesus without any help from man redeemed humanity. Sinful mankind can do nothing to add to Christ’s Finished Work, nor should he negate any of it (Eph. 2:8, 9).

Before the introduction of the Mosaic Law Abraham walked in Faith believing in the LORD and it was accounted to him as Righteousness, thus he became a Child of GOD (Gen. 15:6). Because he committed himself to trust and obey GOD, Abraham is called the Father of Faith (Rom. 4:11-16). He set the example for all to follow; both Jew and Gentile are now invited into the New Covenant with the Holy GOD of Israel. So we see Faith in Christ Jesus’ Finished Work at the Cross of Crucifixion is the unifying element between Jew and Gentile (Eph. 2:15-18).

For He is our peace, Who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in His Flesh the enmity, even the Law of Commandments contained in Ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the Cross, having slain the enmity thereby:  (Eph. 2:14-16)

The Law of Moses and the Sacrificial System as instituted in the Old Testament pointed to the Cross where Jesus would shed His Blood; thus we see the Jew was bound by works of obedience, because they needed to cover their sins in GOD’s prescribed manner. In comparison, under the New Covenant of the New Testament one walks with GOD by grace as a believing Christian, through the principle of Faith, not works. In both cases, Eternal Life is promised to all who hold fast to Faith in GOD and His Plan of Salvation.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up: That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have Eternal Life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have Everlasting Life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes on Him is not condemned: but he who believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the Only Begotten Son of God.  (Jn. 3:14-18)

Under the New Covenant of Grace, Holy Spirit Who indwells every Believer gives both the ability and the motivation to please GOD, as we rely on what Jesus accomplished for us (Phil. 2:13). In other words, the Covenant of Grace is about the Finished Work of Jesus at the Cross, Who provided for every spiritual necessity; that is what is meant when we say we are hidden in Christ. Jesus Christ died for sinful man so man could live in His Righteousness; this holy exchange is a gift from GOD (Rom. 3:21-25).

As well, from the perspective of the present day, both Testaments speak harmoniously complementing one another concerning future events, such as the Almighty’s soon coming Revival of Christ’s Church through to the Rapture, and with His dealings concerning Israel His Chosen People through the Great Tribulation to His Second Coming.

Both Testaments are consistent in their disclosure of End-Time proceedings concerning attempts to annihilate His Chosen Nation, Messiah’s final Judgment against wickedness, His Restoration of Israel, and of the events leading into His Kingdom Reign, culminating to the inevitable Glorious Perfect Eternal Age. The two Testaments are properly discerned when seen as working together to bring clarity to GOD’s purpose, intention, and plan.

The revealed history of Judaism, as recorded in the Old Testament greatly assists the Christian to grasp GOD’s full intention toward His Children. The depth of His Agape
