Episode 01 – Trapped
Prologue
2026 June 20, Atlantic Ocean
The small fishing boat sways in the water. A wind howls from a distance. On the deck, two young men are trying very hard to haul the fishing net from the water. The headlight of the boat is doing a great job keeping the night at bay.
One, two ... pull. Again, pull.
The clean shaved man yells.
The rope is leaving a red blister on their hands. No matter how hard they try, the net is not coming out of the water.
Do you think the net is full of fish?
The bearded man asks.
Of course, the net will be teeming with fishes.
The clean shaved man says. If the motor worked we wouldn’t have to haul the net by our hands.
Yeah, it totally sucks.
The bearded man says.
Boys, did you finish hauling the net?
An old man comes out of the cabin and asks.
Thomas, we think the net is full of fish, but we need your help.
The clean shaved man says.
Okay.
Thomas goes near a corner and holds one end of a rope. Okay, boys, pull.
They pull the net with all their might. The net hardly moves.
We should change the motor soon, Thomas.
The clean shaved man says.
We will, on the next week. Of course, if we get enough money. Now, haul the net.
Thomas says.
The three of them haul the net. Finally, about half an hour later, the net come out of the water and safely lands on the boat.
Yeah, yeah. This is what I am talking about, baby.
Clean shaved man and a bearded man yell excitedly.
Thomas smiles and goes near the net and he spread out the corners. To his surprise, the net has been filled with lots and lots of fish.
What did I tell you about fishing in this area?
The clean shaved man asks.
Credit of course belongs to you, but this area is still off-limits. We should be grateful that nothing bad has happened.
Thomas says.
I don’t see why they made this place off-limits.
The clean-shaved man says
Everything is for a reason, Kevin,
Thomas says to the clean-shaven man. Okay, Kevin, you and Tim put all the fish in the freezer while I turn the boat around.
Okay,
Kevin says.
Guys, did you see that,
Tim says pointing at the ocean water beyond the misty region.
Saw what?
Kevin asks.
I think I saw some orange light over there,
Tim says.
What orange light? I am not seeing anything.
Thomas says. Do what I told you to do.
Thomas leaves the scene to the cabin.
Kevin looks at the ocean water for a moment, then he goes near the net and starts to put the fish in a small container for later throwing inside the freezer. Then he too sees an orange light in the corner of his eye.
Kevin stands up and stares at the ocean. Then he sees it. A ball of fire is rolling out through the water towards the boat. Tim already has frozen. The fireball is coming at high velocity. Kevin quickly grabs Tim’s hand and he hauls Tim to the cabin. Kevin shut the cabin door behind him just in time when the fireball collided with the boat.
Bang!
The boat sways violently and a vibration passes through the boat’s walls. The boat then creaks.
What the hell was that?
Thomas yells.
Kevin and Tim have been frozen. Words aren’t forming inside their mouth.
Finally, Kevin opens his mouth. Big fireball, Mr. Thomas! Fireball!
Thomas seems to have not believed in what Kevin has said. He goes near the door and opens the door a little and peeks outside. He sees nothing, but he does see that the corner of his boat’s back has bent a little and some cracks have formed on the steel body.
Thomas shakes his head saying What the hell,
and returns to the wheel and he starts the engines. He slowly put the boat in forward motion. Then he sees it through the windshield! A fireball is coming straight at the boat. Thomas tries to turn the boat, but before that, the fireball collides with the boat and Thomas has got thrown away from his feet. Thomas somehow stands up and stares at the windshield. There are cracks formed on the windshield. Then he sees it.
About four fireballs are coming toward the boat from different directions.
Run for your lives, lads,
Thomas says and he runs out of the cabin.
Thomas then jumps into the water. Kevin and Tim freeze for a moment, then they too run out of the cabin and jump into the water. The fireballs collide with the boat and the boat becomes engulfed in fire. Within seconds the boat sinks into the abyss.
What are we going to do now?
Kevin asks Thomas, with a sudden panic.
Thomas opens his mouth to say something, but before any words can escape his mouth, a big fireball rolls out through the water and it goes straight through Thomas’ and Tim’s head. They instantly disappear into the abyss.
No...
Kevin screams.
Tears well up in his eyes. A moment later rain starts to fall from the sky. Kevin tries his best to stay on top of the water. Then Kevin get hold of a wooden piece. Kevin hold on to it tightly, gulping little salty water.
A moment later the surrounding ocean water gets lit up by a blue light. Kevin looks at the blue light with total bewilderment. It looks like it is coming from ocean depths. Suddenly Kevin begins to flow toward the blue light. Something is attracting him to the light. Panic surges through him. He desperately paddles his hands and legs to and fro on the water to stay away from the light, but he gets keep moving towards it. The moment he reaches the center of the light, he just vanishes into thin air. Rain continuously falls from the sky and no sign of Kevin. A moment later the blue light dies out, leaving the ocean to the night.
Chapter 1 – Allen
2026 June 29, Atlantic Ocean, Ship Harmony
Ship Harmony slowly glides through the open ocean. In the night, she moves like a firefly. There isn’t a place in Harmony that isn’t glowing.
Allen sits in the bar, pretty bored. He knows no one to talk to. Bar is full of people. People are dancing in the center and some of the people are chatting with others. Everyone is enjoying their stay on the ship, but not Allen.
Give me a strong one,
Allen says to the blonde bartender.
The bartender pours a drink into a glass smiling at Allen. Allen smiles back. She slides the glass of drink towards Allen.
Is this your first time on a ship?
Bartender asks.
Yes. How do you know?
Allen asks.
You see, I have this rare ability to read people’s minds.
The bartender looks at Allen seriously.
Are you kidding me?
Allen asks shocked.
Of course, I am joking.
The bartender breaks into a laugh. You should have seen your face. Anyway, you look bored, aren’t you?
You could really read my mind,
Allen says.
Bartender laughs. What’s your name?
Allen swallows his drink in a single gulp. I will tell you after you pour me one more.
Okay, okay.
The bartender pours the drink into Allen’s glass. So, your name?
It’s Allen,
Allen says.
Is it first or last?
Bartender asks.
First, of course,
Allen says.
Well, Allen, I am Mena and you’re always welcome to my bar, as long as you don’t drink too much,
Bartender says.
Mena is a nice name. Can I ask you for dinner with me?
Well, I have to say no, because, I have to work all night in here. You know, it’s my only job.
Oh, I get it.
Another customer comes to the bar and Mena goes to serve him. Allen shifts his gaze from Mena to the strippers who are doing all sorts of gymnastic moves through the metal rod. People are dancing around the strippers. Some are saying foolish arousing comments to the strippers.
A moment later Mena comes near Allen.
Do you like the stripper dance?
Mena asks.
Allen shifts his gaze to Mena. Well, they don’t know a lot of moves.
Now are you an expert in stripper club?
Mena asks.
Well, you could say that. I am a computer programmer, and all day, what I see is, codes doing a stripper dance around me.
Allen says.
I think I get it. You must be a nerd.
Mena says.
Well, I kind of excel in my job,
Allen says.
You must be making a whole lot of cash,
Mena says.
You can guess the value of a good programmer,
Allen says.
Mena smiles. Allen finishes his drink and he places the money on the counter.
Thank you for the drink,
Allen says.
Are you leaving already? You just got here.
Mena asks.
Well, it’s a little loud in here. I am going to the upper level. I have heard that the view is fantastic.
Allen says.
Okay, stay safe and enjoy your stay on the ship,
Mena says.
Allen waves his hands and he slowly walks towards the exit door. Allen exits the bar and enters into a corridor. Quickly the sound of music disappears behind the door. Allen slowly moves forward. There are a lot of people coming oppositely, to the bar. Allen smiles at them and moves on.
Finally, Allen reaches the upper deck and he stands in a corner, staring at the night sky. The sky is filled with stars. There aren’t a lot of people on the upper deck and those who are standing near the edges, stare at the water below.
The ship is moving steadily and the sight of the ship cutting through the water is marvelous. Allen thinks about Mena. She is very pretty for her age and she actually deserves a better job than just a bartender. Allen can’t think of a girl he has seen before who is prettier than Mena.
Allen stares at the everlasting sky, and he gets lost in its beauty.
Chapter 2 – Johanna
2026 June 29, Atlantic Ocean, Ship Harmony
Johanna stands on the top level of the ship, enjoying the night wind. She stares at the sky looking for a constellation. Shooting stars glide through the sky in the distance.
Johanna straightens her long black hair and she stares at the stars. There aren’t many people where Johanna is standing. Those near Johanna are talking and enjoying their time on the ship.
Johanna takes her phone in her hands and she presses the power button. There aren’t any new notifications on the status bar. Johanna curses herself.
Not even a Facebook notification,
Johanna says herself.
Johanna put back her phone in her coat’s pocket and continues looking at the stars. Stars have an amazing effect on Johanna in the cold night. When watching the stars, she feels not so lonely, since there are lots of stars looking at her.
Isn’t the sky amazing?
A woman with long black hair come near Johanna.
Johanna turns towards the voice and looks at the woman.
Sofia? Indeed, the sky is marvelous.
Johanna says surprised.
Johanna tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. So, what brings you to this ship? You’re not a fan of ships. Why didn’t you take a flight?
Well, I took the ship for a change. Besides, it’s been too long since I have traveled by sea.
Sofia says. I am kind of alone. Can I join you?
What kind of question is that? Of course, you can join. I am also sort of alone.
Johanna says. So how did you become aware that I am aboard this ship?
"Well, I saw you when I am climbing aboard the ship. And my
