The sun hung low on the horizon, its feeble light struggling to penetrate the thick veil of ash that perpetually shrouded the sky. Aric, the last Paladin, trudged through the desolate wasteland, his heavy footsteps leaving imprints in the gray, lifeless soil. Once gleaming and resplendent, his armor bore the scars of countless battles and the relentless passage of time, its once-polished surface now dull and marred by countless dents and scratches.
"Iterum dies. This godforsaken world," Aric muttered, his voice raspy from disuse and the ever-present clouds of ash that choked the air. He couldn't remember the last time he had spoken to another living soul; the silence of the wasteland was his only constant companion.
As he walked, Aric's thoughts drifted to a time long past when the world was alive with color, and the gods still answered the prayers of the faithful. He remembered the grand halls of his order, the soaring arches and stained-glass windows that had once filtered the
