CHAPTER 1
Principal Slade sat in front of her laptop. It was Sarah’s first day as a teacher. She was able to monitor each teacher and sit in and attend a class without the teachers or pupils realizing it. She sat waiting. The images of all the students appeared to the left as they logged on for the day. The instructions popped up on the screen, but they were not the standard messages in boxes, but images that seemed to flit across the screen in beautiful soap bubbles. Principal Slade was almost mesmerized as she followed every prompt. As she did what the prompt said the bubbles popped.
Everyone was logged on and they all heard a loud scraping sound. Principal Slade sat and laughed until the tears poured down her cheeks.
They watched the little character pull an enormous desk to the middle of the screen. There was no colour but the screen was black and the images were white. The image suddenly hopped onto the desk and sat down and rolled his eyes. He pointed to the first child. Australia.
The character seemed to suddenly grab at Morris and a world map spun on the screen. Principal Slade stared as the character held a very life-like little boy who kicked and waved his arms as he flew through the air and was settled on the map of Australia and the colour of the country on the globe suddenly changed.
Morris looked down and saw an image of himself, on the map. Morris! Tell us where you are from, dude!
Morris gurgled with delight as he looked at the map and his image and he spoke. The pupils looked at the globe and listened to him. Each child had a turn. Nancy giggled as the image of her was gently lifted and held in the character’s hand and he deposited her in France. Once all the children had been moved and had introduced themselves, Harry, the character, hugged the globe and gave it a little squeeze. It splattered in to pieces and the images of the pupils flew back to the row on the left.
My name is Harry. Harry the historian. Check out the peeps we are going to meet!
Principal Slade sat and stared in awe as images popped up on the screen. Abe, Adolf, Aristotle, Bartholomew, and all these old peeps.
He suddenly looked up and whispered. They heard someone whispering. They aren’t old peeps. Dudes!
Even Principal Slade bent forward to try and hear the whisper. She grinned as she watched. So, I can’t teach you anything today because today is your first day and you are already making history. See. His. So that is you. And a story. Your story. His story. And if you have a bad, seriously bad, way of talking. You can say her story. See. Her. Story. Kind of like hit me up and we make history.
He rolled his eyes as he heard the whisper. So I can show you something. Check this out!
Harry jumped onto the table and looked down towards the bottom of the screen. No names were mentioned
