The dimly lit bar was bustling with the usual Friday night crowd, a mix of weary office workers and groups of friends unwinding after a long week.
Amidst the cacophony of laughter and clinking glasses, Sara found herself alone at the bar, nursing a drink, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of the job interview she had lined up for the next morning. She was so engrossed in her own world that she barely noticed when someone took the seat next to her.
Tough day?
The voice was smooth, tinged with a hint of amusement. Sara turned to find Peter, an attractive stranger with an easy smile and eyes that sparkled with curiosity.
You could say that,
Sara replied, offering a small smile in return. I've got a big day tomorrow, and here I am trying to drown my nerves in alcohol.
Peter chuckled. Well, they say courage can be found at the bottom of a glass.
