MY PHILOSOPHY OF INDUSTRY
HENRY FORD
"It is a mistake to think that we are living in a machine age...We are living in a machine age, we are living in the power age. This power age has great possibilities, depending on how we use it...It can be abused. But it can also be used greatly to benefit mankind."

PREFACE TO POPULAR EDITION
MY PHILOSOPHY OF INDUSTRY
A Mine of Practical Wisdom For Young and Old
HAVING always found much benefit and inspiration myself in the writings of Henry Ford, I have long sought a way to place this practical wisdom at the disposal of the public at large. By the generous and broadminded cooperation of the publishers of this book of Ford’s, Messrs. Coward-McCann, Inc., 425 Fourth Avenue, New York City, it is possible to place this volume on the market for twenty-five cents (25c.) postpaid in the United States and Canada.
This book is a mine of wisdom, by a man who has proved the correctness of his doctrines in respect to practical affairs as no other man has in America since Lincoln or Benjamin Franklin. Mr. Ford is a billionaire without any attempt to amass wealth. The success of his philosophy proves its soundness. He is a leader and inspiration to youth and old age. He has demonstrated in an indisputable way more practical truths of value to our people than anyone else I know of. He has made a stupendous success of his theory of service to the public, which will be the dominating principle of human relations henceforth. He has established beyond all cavil the soundness of his contentions.
He has proved that it is more to the interest of the employer to pay high wages than to pay low wages, for the higher the wages the greater the purchasing power of the wage earner, thus automatically broadening markets. Blood cannot be had from a stone nor can prosperity be attained where only poverty prevails. Why have men been so slow to grasp these basic truths? Why indeed? But no longer need any one fail to benefit by them. Some take a long time to learn, but the slow-witted who will not learn will soon be left behind in the march of progress and will be heard of no more.
His doctrine
