I have to say that I wrote this bit-by-bit awaiting inspiration daily. It usually arrived with each cup of coffee (decaf latte is my favourite). Star Trek Films and the TV Series are my obvious source of details but if you asked me to name a specific I would be floundering. My book story just fell into my mind but I just winged most of it as if Spock had me in a Mind Melt.
Thinking right now I could not even tell you the whole story – I would have to read it like you would! Have I just defined INSPIRATION?

Edward Steep is a retired residential property Chartered Surveyor/Valuer who lives in the southern County of Hampshire in England, UK. He is married to childhood and school sweetheart who was in the same class as him. They have two grown-ups and have produced their first grandchild. Their daughter has been a casualty of Covid but lives locally with them which is comforting for all concerned. Author's wife has had a cancer scare in modern times whist the author recently took to writing but it seems they have both conquered these challenges and it is hoped with flying colours. They met whilst very young and married early which is a true love story in itself as they continue an obscenely long relationship.

A purported record, a mere glimpse, of a partial manuscript from The Architect, says…

The vision was always with me; it is obvious now and perhaps it was, in the beginning, but I failed to understand it. It found me by degrees, in magic moments, as I grew up. Perhaps it explains why I was both gregarious, even popular, but also a loner as a boy. I fitted in, but on my own terms. What I did know, in later life, was that as I neared retirement something was missing. Life, the universe, and everything needed to be refocused.

The Architect also left basic NOTES and these are left BELOW. They tell a story so read on and enjoy the ride……. They fall into what are classified as CHAPTERS which are given TITLES to add to the flavour of things. All very BOOK’ISH.

You must also understand that in a few places BLANKS or EXPLANATION were found or were needed but be assured that over 96% of this Book is original text/notes simply put into plain English language (a few errors excepted).

CHAPTER ONE

In The Beginning

O nce upon a time collectively we had come to know that Earth, and its inhabitants, were just about as perfect as could be. Early man had evolved, as Darwin surmised, and was the crowning achievement of our paradise. But, as time passed, things became more competitive and perhaps brutal. Most of our environment was healthy and most of the people were happy, most of the time; with just a few except ions.

Under the surface Mother Nature, Gaia, would have been saying something like One of these days… or Mark my words… or Kids today! or When will they learn? and then shrug her shoulders and wander away and have a nice cup of tea. Little did even she realise circumstances were about to grab her attention, and in no small or uncertain way.

If we all remember correctly, the end of an era and the start of something new, commenced one morning. A Monday: February 12th, 20XX. Many would then say they had seen it coming. Religions would adopt a We told you so stance. However, what most of us now want to explain are the signs most of us then missed and how it really did kick off.

Being an average man who had an average life, looking back, to before it started, it could be said it was obvious; something had to give and we had accrued just enough knowledge and understanding to realise the alternative, that war and famine in the name of anything other than truth, was not the way to go. Were we not perfect as many projected in the media and we were not displaying wisdom. No, and life had become trivialized and our environment in many peoples analysis was non-sustainable. Deep down we all knew it was true, a bitter truth, albeit that many, perhaps even most of us, would not admit it. They say life has a habit of knocking you back down to earth, and this turned out to be true. Brutally true. But why were we ignoring it and with a smile on our faces? This was perplexing me and many of those I discussed it with.

Let’s set the scene: where do we start? Perhaps New York. A double bed, John and Yoko and the worlds press! All they were saying was Give Peace A Chance. They were young but all the hype and media interest piqued the imagination and in no small manner. You could even say it changed lifes, even a generations life view, and beyond, and in multiple ways. Ways that many did not fully understand even at that enlightened time. I was young and personally simply went with the flow.

John Lennon made it OK to have disparate views and opinions, to dress in weird clothes and to not fit in. An insecure non-conformist but with a clear vision, however unpalatable that was to the world’s diehard religions and pompous American backwoodsmen families. He also vocalized simple concepts, simply. Take the song Imagine and really understand the words – imagine no countries, no religion, no war. Yes, give peace a chance.
