About this ebook
"Targeted Truth: A Battle Against Corruption and the Truth Behind My Father's Death" is based on a true story about how Louisiana police officers killed my father, Everett Hendon, and labeled his death a suicide in 1991. Although I never met my father, he was killed when I was 11 years old. From leaving the Navy to becoming a hitman, leading up to eventually becoming a postal worker delivering packages for Colombians and the same police that would ultimately take his life. This is also my story and truths of my own life growing up without a father on a mission to seek justice for his murder.

s far back as I can remember life has never been fair. This roller coaster has always been a lot easier going down then up. One thing about it, I’m still riding. No matter what life goes on until God decides our time is up. I have had some happy moments, but there have been a lot more not so good ones. I have always wondered if I had been born wealthy how different things would have been. Why have I never had the luck our joy in my life I feel everyone deserves? Regardless, the universe never stops moving whether we are here or not. This book is based on what I feel is the right thing to do, tell my story about a situation that is very important to me and has been weighing heavy on my mind and heart for years. I feel my deceased father, Everette Hendon, is living through me and it is my motivation to write this book. The main reason behind this story is to tell as much as I know about him in order to find out the truth and bring my father’s killers to justice. It is only right that I tell my story and where I come from first.
Everyone born into this world has a mother and a father who came from a mother and a father. It’s a shame that most people don’t know as much as they should about where they came from. I can’t tell you a lot about my grandparents except where they came from. I was blessed to live many years around my mother’s mom, Mother Ruth.
I never learned so much from anyone or loved anyone as much. When she passed away, I was devastated. Not to mention I had just lost my first niece at six months old and my favorite uncle four months prior. Mother Ruth had four children, the two youngest were by my grandfather. They were never married. I could not tell you his name, but I do know he was killed by his wife. I know nothing about my grandfather’s side of the family because my mother never brought me around them or even talked to them that much herself.
All I ever knew was my grandmother’s last husband of the three, Sam Baker. Mother Ruth was from Lexington, Tennessee living in Decatur, Illinois when I was born. Sam was living in Paducah, Kentucky. I was born April 16, 1980, a true ’80s baby at St Mary’s Hospital south side of Decatur. I can remember as far back as preschool in Decatur going to Anna Waters’ Head Start program. I moved to Houston, Texas with my mother and stayed until second grade. I remember a lot about Houston to be so young. I can remember enough to know that we were nowhere near wealthy. We always had a decent place to stay. We walked or rode the bus everywhere we went. We lived close to the Astrodome, Astro World, and Water World. From kindergarten all the way up until when I left in the second grade. I remember living in three different places. Throughout those years my mother’s boyfriend was the good and the bad. How he taught me a lot at such a young age. Then my mother and grandmother realized he was being too aggressive after he beat me so bad my grandmother ended up sending for me to come live with her when I was around eight years old. When my mother put me on a plane from
