Ethan and the Seven Chakras - Yvette Farkas
Ethan and his family lived in the only red house in the whole neighbourhood.
Not only did Ethan live in a house that was a little different, he was a little different too. You see, Ethan’s family had just moved to town, and Ethan was new at school. Unlike most kids, however, Ethan and his folks travelled all over the world before they came here.
Ethan’s dad was a marine mechanic who fixed boats and all kinds of engines. His mom was a talented designer who made beautiful furniture and art for people. They both loved working with their hands and frequently created projects together as a family. This year, they planned on building a jungle gym in the backyard made from recycled wood.
Ethan’s parents had drawn up the plans after hearing what the kids would most enjoy doing outside. Once they returned from their trip, they would get the kids together and start building it. There would be a climbing wall, obstacle course, balance beams, zipline, and slackline. It was going to be awesome!
Even though he was still a kid, Ethan had already lived in five countries. He had friends in Morocco, Turkey, China, and Hungary. Now, he was back in Canada.
Ethan was ten years old, tall, and slender, with brown hair and eyes and freckles across the top of his nose and cheeks. He was smart, told funny jokes, and enjoyed cooking. He was a very curious and thoughtful kid, always asking questions and trying to figure things out. He wasn’t afraid to talk with adults and often had long conversations with them. However, he felt shy around other kids. It was as if they couldn’t quite understand him sometimes. He also felt a little nervous about trying new things, but that’s pretty normal; even adults get nervous at times.
School had just started, and next week was going to be Ethan’s big chance to make new friends. It would be his turn to speak in front of the class. Each day, a new student got to tell the class about their family and share stories about their life. Ethan decided he was going to tell the class about his world travels. He thought his classmates would be impressed with his stories, and this would help him make new
