About this ebook

With the passage of time, the zombies outside were now crawling with dark cyan spiderweb-like lines almost all over their faces, and the ones that appeared in Orange's head at this time were all normal humans, only they seemed to have lost their consciousness and were wandering aimlessly everywhere.

    Meow Kill - Carolyn Simancik

    Chapter 2: Recollections

Six years ago, in the fall.

Orange was just under two months old at the time, and perhaps due to malnutrition, she was still walking a bit unsteadily.

Their home is near the Beltway near a ditch, where there are some hollow cement pipes used to repair the ditch piled up, fortunately, some kind people sent them some old clothes, old sheets, otherwise I'm afraid that it was born when it has been frozen to death.

Sometime later, and Orange can't remember exactly when, his mother went out looking for food for a long time and didn't come back, and his siblings were so hungry that one by one they left the house to go look for food on their own.

It is the most timid of the siblings, only dare to climb to the mouth of the concrete pipe anxiously waiting, with a thin voice calling, hoping that the mother can hear, as soon as possible back, but it was disappointed, until the day near the end of the evening also did not see the mother figure, and even its siblings did not come back.

It was so scared that its tiny body curled up into a little ball of fur and kept whimpering.

Mother must be in some kind of trouble. I have to go help her.

But Orange knows nothing about the outside world and is filled with curiosity and fear.

After some hesitation, it finally mustered up the courage to step out of its not-quite-warm home and stumbled to the side of the road, falling a few times in the process.

It sniffed the smell of his mother along the road has been looking for the west, occasionally a car whistling past will be around it rolled up a gust of wind, almost to topple it to the road next to the gully, the huge roar scared it curled up into a small ball of hair trembling, until the terrible steel monster far away, it is only careful to raise its head to inspect the surroundings to confirm that it is safe to get up and continue to forward.

The night is getting thicker and the wind is getting colder.

The orange smelled the wind carrying the scent of his mother's body, it should be not far ahead, it was so happy that it accelerated its pace forward.

An old man dressed in orange and red slowly rode past it on a tricycle, and because it was late in the day, the old man didn't notice the poor little guy on the side of the road.

The scent of my mother's body was getting closer, though there was a strange but familiar hint of that scent mixed in.

The old man in orange and red stopped not far ahead, walked to the tricycle and surveyed it for a moment, sighed and shook his head, turned back and took out a piece of rag from the car, rejoined the front of the car, and squatted down with some effort as if he had wrapped up something from the ground.

A car whizzed by and Orange shivered involuntarily; this time it didn't stop.

The headlights shone on the old man, and Orange could see what was wrapped in rags in his hand; it was his own mother, her head drooping limply like the rags, her eyes tightly closed, blood dripping from the corners of her mouth.

This was the first time Orange knew what death was, and great fear immediately took over its brain, it trembled and its already weak legs kept shivering.

The old man put the rag bag wrapped around his mother's body into the garbage truck and resumed driving forward.

The orange stumbled after the fading tricycle with the last of its strength, it wanted to see its mother one more time, maybe she wasn't dead yet, there was still help.

But Orange was just a young cat that had just been born less than two months ago, and even after exhausting all her strength and falling down countless times to no avail, all that was left in the end were breathless cries of sadness and heart-rending pain.

The tricycle finally melted into the thick of the night.

At this time the orange has left home too far, it helplessly surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings, do not know where the next destination, just a bewildered haze of walking and stopping, walking aimlessly along the edge of the road ahead, the long journey so that its frail legs are weak and sore, tender paws seem to have been abraded, every step will come from the heart of the pain.

        Hiss!

An ear-splitting sound of brakes made Orange unconsciously shrink its neck, curling its tiny body into a ball and lying on the ground, a white sedan stopped about fifty meters ahead of it, and it cautiously stopped in its tracks, its black and gray fur blending easily into the night with it.

A young woman opened the car door and stepped out, walked quickly to an elm tree at the side of the road, leaned against the trunk and let out a deep cry.

Is she grieving for the loss of her mother like I am?

Orange didn't walk over right away, but watched the woman quietly from a distance.

A pair of thin shoulders of the woman accompanied by the sound of crying kept shaking and shrugging, and the sad cry made Orange follow and add one more point of sadness.

Ai Nan was tired of crying, and the bitterness that had been suppressed in her heart for so many days could finally be vented with impunity.

To Fly is gone, her beloved husband, gone forever on a military mission.

She desperately repressed it in front of her family, not wanting them to worry, not wanting the child in her belly to feel this suffering, it was the crystallization of the two, although they already had a child, but Jingfei had always wished for a girl, and his wish was about to come true.

But why don't you wait any longer, even to see our children.

She sat paralyzed on the floor, burying her head deep between her arms and sobbing incessantly.

Orange came over as a godsend, it couldn't remember what it was thinking at the time.

It stood on its tiptoes and flicked Ai Nan's exposed fingers with its soft little tongue.

Ai Nan was first startled, stopped crying, and twisted her head to look with tearful eyes, and through the afterglow of the headlights, she saw a small civet cat tilting its little face, with tears in its eyes, gently licking its fingers, as if it was comforting itself.

The moment the two pairs of tearful eyes looked at each other, Ai Nan felt an extra trace of warmth in her cold heart, and she reached out her hands to prop Orange up in her arms, gently resting her forehead against Orange's between her two ears.

Then he put it in front of himself and looked it over carefully, What a poor little kitten, are you lost?

Orange tilted his little head forward and stuck out his tongue to lick the tears that hung on Aynan's cheeks.

        It's so salty.

A woman who has lost the love of her life and a cat who has lost a close relative meet as if by fate.

        ......

Time has passed quickly and now Fishy is approaching his sixth birthday.

Ai Nan has been putting her heart and soul into her scientific research career in recent years, and at the age of thirty-three, she has already published a number of high-level papers related to life sciences in several authoritative academic journals. She immigrated here three years ago with a pair of children and her orange son, and first taught at the university for a year, and then worked at the Manselton Biotechnology Research Center, a world-renowned research institution.

Orange from the country to here in the middle of not only by various modes of transportation, but also to do all kinds of epidemic prevention and inspection, the road twists and turns, cumbersome procedures.

It was a less than pleasant experience.

Orange flopped down on the wall and engaged in some profound reminiscing, still no sign of Ainam's car, and boredly picked at his ears twice, his head rhythmically combing the fur on his shoulders bit by bit.

From the distance came two drunks, staggering from the roadside, one of them urinated urgently ran to the wall to pee, looked up and saw a cat staring straight at him, could not help but shivered a great shiver to put up his pants and walked away quickly.

        Meow Oo~ How fucking unqualified!

It moved over and continued to lie on its back and wait, and the wait always felt long.

Finally seeing Aynan's car approaching from a distance, he jumped off the fence and scurried quickly to the curb.

Aynan would habitually slow down the car as soon as he arrived in the neighborhood to see if his own cat was waiting for him.

Upon seeing Orange, she opened the car door, Stool! Get over here!

        Deng you sister!

Ever since Old Ai named it Orange Ai Nan hadn't really called it by its first name properly, and had been stooping to calling it anything other than berating it.

Orange jumped into the front seat, Aynan put her hand on her head and rubbed it a couple of times, then scratched under her chin, Orange closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth for a moment, That's nice, the kids are asleep, aren't they?

She didn't expect a response, just the customary question.

Wait a minute! Why does the car smell like other creatures besides myself and Ai Nan?

This guy doesn't really have a dog out there, does he?

It stared at Ai Nan with a questioning gaze, as if to say, Please give me a reasonable explanation.

Ai Nan seemed to understand his little mind at once, his hands on the steering wheel spread out, gently shrugged his shoulders and explained, Bring back a few mice, go back and experiment with them.

Orange craned his head to see where the trunk was, got through the gap in the front seat, jumped up into the back seat and rushed to sniff the trunk, it smelled like it had smelled it in the lab, it shouldn't have fooled the cat.

The house Ai Nan was currently renting belonged to one of his father's students, a small two-story building of about a hundred square feet with a back garden as well as a spacious front yard, at a fair price, and allowing her to set up a small private lab in the house, although the lab was usually locked when Ai Nan wasn't at home because of the children.

Orange double-checked that nothing else was out of the ordinary and rejoined the front seat, curling herself into a ball on the seat.

Although Ai Nan has been driving for many years, his driving skills are still not good, so he usually doesn't drive too fast, besides, there are not many vehicles and pedestrians on the road now, so he doesn't have to worry about the bastard braking sharply and throwing himself off.

    Chapter 3: Influenza viruses

Ten minutes or so later, Aynan's car slowly pulled into his garage, and Orange jumped right out the window, going around to the trunk to double-check before walking to the door and waiting for Aynan to open it.

The house they are now renting is split over two floors, with an open kitchen, dining room, and living room below, and three bedrooms upstairs.

After returning home the first thing that Orange did was to run to find his toy, the muppet fish that Qin Xuemei had sewn for himself, and after searching through the first floor and not finding it, it went straight up the stairs and pushed open the door to the little fish's room.

The little fish has fallen asleep at this time, holding the orange muppet fish in his arms, the little face of the pink carving is like a ripe apple, the long eyelashes are slightly arched, the thin little mouth breathes one by one, a layer of fine sweat perspires on the forehead.

Orange bit down on her toy and tugged gently a few times, realizing that this this child was holding her too tightly, and that if she pushed any harder she would surely wake her up, it crouched helplessly by the bedside wagging its tail, looking at its toy from side to side in a dilemma.

Ai Nan has also changed his slippers and walked in, looking at the little fish still asleep to reveal a doting smile, and then look at Orange's expression of lifelessness, he could not help but dumbly laugh, cocked the corner of his mouth, and whispered in a helpless tone, There is nothing I can do about it, oh.

After saying that she came over to Little Fishy and gently kissed her forehead before going out to the other room to see her brother, Ai Xiaoning, the kid was not sleeping honestly and always kicked the covers.

Orange licked her nose and sighed imperceptibly, Ugh, never mind, I'll let you cuddle and sleep today.

It followed Ai Nan's example and put its mouth in front of the little fish, sticking out its little pink tongue and gently nudging it on the little fish's forehead, perhaps because its beard was too long tickling the little fish, causing her to stretch out her chubby little hand and scratch her crystal clear little nose.

Oops! Orange looked at the little fishy with some self-consciousness, but luckily she just stomped on the covers twice before falling asleep again.

This raising of his hand gave Orange a chance though, and he took the opportunity to pick up his toy and jump off the bed, glancing back as he reached the doorway and noticing that one of Fishy's legs was exposed, he turned around and tiptoed back in, stretching out his paw and pulling the covers over him to cover him up before he ran out of the room.

Ai Nan saw Orange come out with the muppet fish in her mouth, and stretched her neck to look into Little Fish's bedroom, realizing that Little Fish had not been woken up before she breathed a sigh of relief, and she glanced at Orange, teasingly saying, Such a big cat, but still fighting with Little Fish for toys? How can you say that?

Orange returned her glare and ignored her, walking downstairs and jumping on the couch to cuddle up to the muppet fish and leisurely watch the TV.

Aynan grimaced and walked over to close the bedroom door behind her, cleaned up a little and went to take a shower.

The TV was on in the living room, and the sound was low so as not to disturb the two children sleeping.

Orange cuddled up to her toy with no regard for image, stretching out her two hind legs and casually laying on her side on the couch, where a white female reporter with a busty body and a trusting smile was gripping the microphone on the TV as she reported on the day's news.

Orange could only understand some simple foreign languages, but the rii virus it did hear, and Ai Nan would talk about it every time he received a call from Old Ai these days, the word being brought up over and over again.

From Ai Nan's words Orange more or less heard out some, rii is the latest type of influenza virus, infected people's physical fitness will rapidly decline, loss of immunity, serious cases a few days may be fatal, for the time being there is no effective medical treatment can be suppressed, and there is no vaccine that can be prevented against epidemics.

However, listening to Ai Nan, the federal government has nearly taken timely measures to isolate the virus-infected town of Soma, and the epidemic has been effectively controlled, so that Old Ai and the others don't have to worry about their safety.

Apparently old Em still wasn't very reassuring and had to call every now and then to ask, so Orange had become familiar with the word.

Orange is not in the mood to worry about these complicated things, now there will be a new virus will not move, some years ago there was a zombie deer, zombie brown bears and so on, and then did not happen what happened to the big thing, and they are just a cat, worrying about it is also a blind worry.

Ai Nan cut a fruit plate after the bath and came over, she changed into a loose satin pajamas, it is still difficult to hide the exquisite figure, although it has been over thirty and gave birth to two children, but she has always paid attention to the maintenance, whether it is the body or the skin is not the slightest bit less than the early twenties of the little girl, and compared to those tender college girls more points of stability and softness.

Orange could smell the fresh scent of shampoo emanating from her not-yet-completely-dried hair from all the way out, and he was slightly allergic to the smell, stifling a sneeze and rubbing his face twice with his paws, squirming a few times to the side of the couch, slightly away from the load.

Aynan didn't notice this little action of its, and sat himself down, picking up a piece of cantaloupe with a toothpick and putting it in his mouth, letting out a contented sigh of sigh of satisfaction.

Seeing the news reports a thousand times were that the epidemic was effectively controlled, but she was still inexplicably annoyed in her heart, picking up the remote control to change the station of a soap opera, lazily laying down into the sofa, twisting her head to look at the drowsy Orange, and patting the side, Stool, come over here, come over here to me.

Orange opened her eyes a slit and squinted at her, giving a perfunctory grunt and continuing to fake sleep.

On a normal day Ai Nan would have forced it to her side and she wouldn't have stopped until she had tossed it around for a while, but today perhaps she was too tired to do that, and although her favorite drama was playing on the TV, her mind didn't seem to be on it at all.

All the media reports as well as government briefings confirm that the virus has been effectively controlled, but Ai Nan's heart is still vaguely uneasy, perhaps this is a woman's sixth sense at work.

A month ago, the federal parliament was still arguing over whether to disclose the spread of the virus, and the members of the parliament scolded the head of the department in charge of epidemic prevention, but recently, they were suddenly silenced, and almost all media outlets were unanimous in echoing the government's argument that the virus had been effectively controlled.

It seems that most of the populace isn't buying it, though, especially in Rilal, the closest city to Soma Town, where an atmosphere of anxiety and uncertainty now hangs over the entire city, and this oppressive atmosphere seems to be continuing to spread.

God Jehovah, Allah Allah, Goddess of Mercy, Goddess of Mercy, and the Gods of the Three Clearings blessed me, and I hope everything is just too much for me.

She looked up at the clock hanging on the wall, it was already past twelve in the morning, and although she felt physically tired she didn't have the slightest desire to sleep, it always felt as if she had missed something she hadn't done, and a small piece of her heart was empty.

Oh yeah, experiments. Ten minutes later, she snapped her fingers and muttered.

Orange's hearing was so acute that he flapped his ears at the word experiment.

This psycho isn't planning on experimenting in the middle of the night, is he? He's already showered.

Aynan didn't let it down, she slowly got up and stretched a great deal, picked up her water glass from the coffee table, took a large gulp of water with a thud, and waddled off towards the lab.

        Shit! Wait for me!

Orange threw down the toys in his arms and jumped off the couch, Ainan's experiment was obviously a bit more interesting compared to the ragdoll fish, besides for Orange this time of the day should be his most active time, how could he possibly waste all his time sleeping, he already slept enough during the day.

Ainan didn't stop Orange from running after her when she saw her, obviously used to it.

At first she was afraid that Orange would run around in the lab and break her experimental instruments, or accidentally stick to or directly drink some experimental potion, but then she realized that this guy was quite peaceful, so she was very relieved to let Orange follow her into the lab.

Biology experiments were a pretty boring job, and she was happy to have Orange next to her, so she could occasionally talk to relieve her boredom, even though she couldn't get a response, it was better than being alone and talking to herself.

But accidents are inevitable, two years ago that earthquake caused the experimental accident is still fresh in her mind, at that time Orange was broken test tubes scratched his legs, but fortunately he did not have any major injuries, after the incident, on the contrary, it seems to be a lot smarter, often see him a cat quietly staring, as if thinking about things in his mind, and even sometimes his reaction is a little bit perverse, beyond the human perception of cats, but she did not think much about it! After all, when she first met Orange she thought it was a bit unbelievable, like a guardian god given to her by the heavens.

From the initial surprise and curiosity, I gradually got used to it.

Chapter 4: Tidbits from the Lab

Ai Nan's laboratory was originally a study, which was transformed into a laboratory by her raw, and to this day there is a wooden bookshelf hanging on one of the walls, which is decorated with all kinds of biotechnology-related books as well as some academic magazines.

The desk was replaced with a neat white lab table, spacious with microscopes, centrifuges, ultraviolet viewers, and other various instruments.

Orange jumped onto the countertop with a light leap, crouched down and waited quietly with his tail wagging.

A few minutes later, Ai Nan changed into a white coat, with a pair of sterilized gloves on her hands, and her scattered hair that had just taken a shower was tied behind her head, revealing her long white neck, and the whole person looked a lot more competent.

She removed a test tube rack from the cryogenic refrigerator, which held blue liquid in several sealed test tubes, placed in order of color shade.

Orange naturally wasn't sure what the blue liquid was, but in any case, Ai Nan would conduct such an experiment once in a while, and the color of the liquid in the test tube varied.

These previous links were not the focus of his concern, the next one was the main event.

Ai Nan grabbed a mouse from the cage, fixed it in a fixer specially designed for tail tendon vein injections, took out a one milliliter syringe, extracted half a tube of syringe reagent from the lightest colored test tube, then straightened the mouse tail, wiped the tail with medicated cotton, and injected it.

A set of processes flowed, Orange had seen it countless times, and Ai Nan's means of mutilating small animals had long since reached the point of perfection.

After the injection, Ai Nan removed the mouse and put it back into the cage, quietly observing its reaction.

This is the part of the process that Orange is most concerned about.

According to past experience, the situation of mice injected by Ai Nan is not too good, and there has been the phenomenon of mouse suicide, in which the injected mice hit their heads hard against the cage, until their heads are broken and bleeding, and only stop when they are out of breath.

There have also been violent incidents of mice killing their own kind. The injected mice seemed to have doubled their strength and crazily tore into other mice in the same cage as themselves until they killed all their companions and died of hemorrhaging from their seven orifices.

The list goes on and on.

All in all the fate of these mice will not be too good.

        Two minutes passed.

The injected mice chewed on the food in their cages as if nothing had happened.

        Ten minutes passed.

        Still no response.

Aynan clearly had no intention of stopping there, as she grabbed the little white mouse, took a blood sample, ether-executed it, dissected it, and documented it.

These processes may seem a bit cruel to outsiders, but for Ai Nan, who is engaged in the direction of biogenetic specialization this is a daily operation.

Orange is also commonplace, and rodents, it is difficult not to let it a cat painfully shed two tears of pity, that does not really become a cat crying for rats?

Ai Nan fell into a short contemplation after dissecting the mice, and she stared straight at the orange on the lab bench, not knowing what she was thinking.

Orange's amber pupils dilated slightly as she stared at her heart.

Sun thief! What are you thinking?

You don't want to use me as an experiment, do you? No way!

Labor doesn't want a shot, not at all!

The orange belly-laughs while forcing itself to be calm and act as if nothing has happened, licking its lips, lifting its hind feet to scratch its neck, looking up at the ceiling, then craning its head to look at the bookshelf, and when it turns its gaze back to Ai Nan once more it realizes that the bastard is still staring at him, the corner of its mouth curving up in an unsavory curve.

        Paralyzed! Slipped!

It jumped off the lab bench and walked quickly towards the door, jumping twice without reaching the doorknob, perhaps because it made a bit too much noise for Aynan to wake up.

Stool? Are you going out? Not staying with me, huh?

Orange twisted her head around to look at her with a confused face.

Has this guy been busy lately?

But see Ai Nan back to normal orange hanging heart is also sort of put down, see her that look is not really let himself as an experiment.

A misunderstanding? Well, let's say it was.

It jumped back onto the lab bench.

Ai Nan grabbed another mouse following the previous process, but this time the blue reagent injected was a bit darker than the last one.

The injected mouse was obviously quite a bit more moody than the last one, and within two minutes it was lying down and not moving.

Aynan wrinkled her nose a bit incredulously as she observed the dying mice in their cages, obviously such a reaction was a bit unexpected.

She had just opened the cage to remove the mice and place them in front of her, and was just about to take a blood sample for the next process when the yells of the little fishy rang out of the door.

        Mommy! Mommy!

Fishy's awake, I'll go check. Aenan said to Orange as he glanced towards the door.

She put down her scalpel, removed her sterilized gloves, went to the sink and quickly washed her hands, opened the door to the lab and walked out.

        Mommy, is Orange back?

        Back, why do you ask?

I had a dream that Orange was taken by bad people.

"It was just a dream, it wasn't real, Orange is fine.

        Oh, that would be great.

        Does baby need some water?

        Uh-huh! A little bit.

Meow meow meow... Fishy, can't you expect me to be nice?

Orange heard the conversation outside and called out in the direction of the door so as to reassure Fishy.

Orange is really okay, I heard him bark, that's great. Fishy giggled.

The moment Orange turned back just now, its afterglow caught a glimpse of the already dead mouse on the lab bench as if it had squirmed its body, and it quickly turned back to stare at the motionless mouse on the lab bench.

I'll go! Playing dead in front of me? If I let you get away with this, will I still be in the cat world?

It stared at the mouse playing dead, ready to tease it, the cat plays with the mouse, the natural order of things.

Nowadays most cats catch mice and play with them first, rather than killing and eating them outright, mainly perhaps because humans provide them with enough food to not have to worry about starving, so what about oranges, which are purely idle.

Not long after, the mouse playing dead squirmed once more, and as if expecting that no one seemed to notice next to it, it moved a little more and rolled over.

Immediately after it with opened its eyes, thieving eyes surveyed the surrounding, emm, this word is used accurately.

Just as it was about to make a quick getaway, Orange was quick on his feet and went down with a paw to hold down its tail.

Playing dead mice ate pain, squeak, squeak screamed twice, desperately trying to break free, but the orange's strength is too great, after a few struggles, it is ultimately futile.

After seeing that there was little hope of escaping from the cat's grasp, it turned around, pushed on its back paws, and stood up, bobbing up and down with its front paws in a clasping position.

        !!!

What's he doing? Bowing and begging for mercy?

Didn't Aynan say this thing had a lower IQ than me?

Ah shucks, I'm not the one with the low IQ!

If you know how to play dead, you can explain it as self-preservation instinct, but how can you explain this bowing?

Could it be that the blue liquid Ai Nan had just injected into it was working?

Orange was inexplicably compassionate as he watched the mouse's pitiful pleading.

Cats are generally a bit neurotic, so it's understandable that they may occasionally have compassionate feelings, and it doesn't seem impossible for them to take pity on rodents.

But Orange can't talk, and it's impossible to tell Aynan not to dissect the little thing.

It hesitated a little, gently picked up the mouse and walked to the edge of the lab bench, silently calculating the distance between the lab bench and the bookshelf, it should be fine!

It jumped hard, its hind feet stepped on the middle of the bookshelf relatively empty grid, two front paws quickly hooked the edge of the top of the bookshelf, the hind legs force quickly climbed to the top of the bookshelf, it put the little white mouse in a corner of the top of the bookshelf, Ai Nan is not too tall, besides, it is looking for a position is a blind area of vision, the light is dim, I think it is safe.

Putting the mouse away, Orange reached out a paw and gently patted its head, signaling the little thing to stay quiet, if it was smart enough it should understand what it meant, and then hopped back onto the lab bench, pretending like nothing had happened.

Ten minutes later, Ai Nan returned to the lab after lulling the little fishy to sleep.

Eh? Where's that mouse from earlier? Ai Nan searched the lab bench once and then searched the floor for good measure before she crossed her arms with one hand and turned her gaze to the orange on the lab bench.

Orange stuck out his tongue and licked the corners of his nose and mouth.

My God! A stool? You're not going to eat that mouse, are you?! She moved over to Orange and looked him up and down.

Orange swiveled his ears and twisted his head to look away noncommittally, with an expression that said it was none of my business.

No, looks like we'll have to go to the vet tomorrow. Apparently Aynan had decided that the mouse had been eaten by Orange, that thing had been injected with a potion, and while what worked on a mouse might not work on a cat, it was best to still go to the hospital to see what was going on.

        Orange: ......

Why am I here? I don't want to go to that hellhole!

    Chapter 5: The Little Dramatist

        Early the next morning.

Ai Nan yawned and walked out from the bedroom, ruffled the curtains and looked outside through the window, the damn weather that had not cleared up for a few days was drizzling again, she wrinkled her face and exhaled a long, stuffy breath, and incidentally, even woke up and exhaled out.

Guess I'll just have to exercise at home today.

She shuffled a little to change into her workout clothes and headed for the treadmill in the living room.

        Stool, get up and run!

        Roll!

Orange narrowed his eyes and looked askance at her, picking at his ears a few times, his head squeezed into a corner of the couch, and went back to sleep.

Ai Nan didn't care about it, probably because there was only one treadmill in the house, she ran on the treadmill by herself for about half an hour until she was sweating profusely before she stopped and came to the bathroom to take a shower.

Clattering~ A burst of sound reached Orange's ears.

Its ears twitched and it quickly rose from the couch as a reflex.

This damn reflex, to be honest, it is not hungry, but as long as it hears this sound it can not help but want to get up and look, as for the reason I am afraid that it is the aftermath of the previous time when it did not know anything.

Unsurprisingly it was Aynan who was preparing cat food for him, and pretending to be asleep or something was immediately a lost cause.

Although his IQ has improved a lot now, he is still a cat in himself, and his tastes from several years down the line can't be changed just by saying so, Ai Nan will sometimes make some other food for him with her own hands, but cat food is still his staple food.

Just like Ai Nan came to foreign countries for almost three years, she is still not accustomed to eating foreign breakfast, still like to eat soybean milk, doughnuts, pickles, taste of this thing how to say it, some people say that can change, some people are like deeply rooted in the inner shackles like indestructible.

This is true for people, as well as cats.

Watching Orange wind up eating the cat food, Ai Nan muttered, I think it's fine by the looks of this appetite, so there's no need to go to the vet, right?

She was making an excuse for trying to save herself a lot of trouble, but this excuse Orange couldn't help but feel happy in her heart when she heard it, and the tip of her tail involuntarily swung a few times in small increments, finally dodging a bullet.

After feeding the oranges, Aynan went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the children.

Orange had a peeing fit after a full meal and hurried toward the bathroom, which Aynan, who was busy in the kitchen, could just about see.

Stool, no standing to pee. Aynan warned as she saw Orange heading for the bathroom.

Orange slanted her a look, Labor knows.

Talking about the peeing standing up thing goes back six months.

Orange was still settled in the litter box at that point.

However, it was curious about the matter of humans going to the bathroom to use the toilet, especially since they had a different posture for going to the toilet, according to its observation over the past many days, Ai Nan used a squatting position for going to the toilet, while Ai Xiaoning used a standing position.

It has at this point the concept of male and female, male and female, and according to his analysis females are squatting to go to the bathroom while males are standing.

He was undoubtedly male himself, so he took advantage of the fact that no one was at home and secretly followed Ai Xiaoning's example to solve it in the bathroom.

Due to the limitation of its own condition, it was just too short, it learned Ai Xiaoning to stand on the ground next to the toilet, and stood up to be just just a little over the toilet.

        Whatever, let's fix it first.

Ai Nan also quickly noticed the matter, her own cat knew that going to the bathroom to go to the toilet was a welcome thing, but the fact that the bastard either peed on the side of the toilet or pooped on the floor next to it every time he went to the bathroom wasn't such a wonderful thing.

Several negotiations were held to no avail.

Orange insisted that he was a male and should go to the bathroom that way and was determined not to change.

One person and one cat almost had a cold war over this, but in the end it was Orange who chose to compromise, the cat had to bow down under the roof.

Ai Nan is a complete housewife, of course does not mean that she does not go out, just not very sociable, in addition to commuting to work, and occasionally send small fish to school outside, the weekend to take small fish to the park or shopping malls to stroll outside, there is almost no other party or socializing, so there is not much friend, even if it is next to the neighbors usually meet also nodded and smiled simply greeted a sentence, perhaps not as much as Orange know people.

I'm afraid there's no place to run away from home.

Never mind, good cats don't fight with women, Orange consoled himself with this.

So now Ai Nan subconsciously reminded it a word when she saw it heading for the bathroom.

But Orange invented an exclusive method of going to the toilet for himself after repeated research, the split pee method.

Orange was supporting the edge of the toilet with all four legs, splitting his fork to facilitate freely when Ai Xiaoning pushed open the door and walked in, scaring it violently and almost slipped under its paws and fell into the toilet.

Ai Nan and her husband have the same last name, and they grew up together as childhood sweethearts, so it's only natural that both of their children have the last name Ai.

Why doesn't this kid know how to respect a cat's ***, it's too much.

Morning, Orange! Ai Xiaoning greeted in Chinese, he was Ai Nan's first child, he was born in China and didn't come over until he was six, at home he was still used to speaking Chinese.

Orange gave him a blank look.

        Woohoo~ Sort of a hello.

You hurry up oh, I'm in a hurry too. Ai Xiaoning said vaguely as she brushed her teeth.

Can you look at me like that fast enough? Orange rolled his eyes helplessly.

It was well and truly convenient, covered the toilet lid, jumped on the lid and pressed the flush button.

        Wow, done.

Wash your paws? No way, just lick it twice, that's how psychotic it is ......

It walked out of the bathroom unsteadily when Aynan had already made breakfast, a simple breakfast of three glasses of milk, an egg omelette, and a plate of pickles.

The dining room table was large enough to still leave a large space open, and Orange circled the table twice, finding a good angle, and with a long leap he jumped onto the table, hooking his tail in front of him over his paws and waiting quietly for their breakfast moment.

And Ai Nan people went into the small fry's bedroom, the small fry is still small in age, is a complete get up hard household, if Ai Nan does not go to call her then probably can rely on until noon.

Not long after, he saw Little Fish nuzzling her little mouth, rubbing her eyes, and walking down the stairs with a reluctant face, her messy hair resembling a bird's nest.

Hi, Orange. She wilted and waved a hand in greeting at Orange, squeezing a breathless smile onto her face.

        Meow.

        Orange responded in due course.

Hurry up and wash your face and brush your teeth, the school bus will be here soon, if you don't eat breakfast you'll be late! Ai Nan's slightly scolding voice came out from Little Fish's bedroom.

Fishy made a face, bristled, and headed for the bathroom.

        ......

Orange, here you go. Little Fish tore off a piece of egg omelette and handed it to Orange, who reached out and pressed her paw on her little hand, meaning obviously, no.

Just now the cat food has already eaten enough, besides, he does not like to eat the egg cake too much, too greasy, if you can give an egg yolk is okay, egg yolk has a fishy smell that he likes.

Then I'll eat it. The little fish also understood his meaning, smilingly stuffed the pancakes into his mouth, grumbling a few small mouth and swallowed, finished eating and drinking a mouthful of milk, pondering for a moment, imitating the tone of adults sighed: So envious of the orange ah, do not have to go to school, I'm so poor, every day I still have to get up so early, hard work to go to school, I'm so up so early to go to school, in the end, what is the reason for it.

He finished with a pitiful look, shaking his head and letting out a sigh.

Orange: Meow~ Little drama queen, enough already.

Fishy: See, Orange knows how hard I live.

Orange:...... Tch, kiddo, look at my eyes, did I mean that?

Ai Nan couldn't help but gently knocked the bowl twice, Hurry up and eat, what kind of emotion in the morning, mom doesn't have to work too.

Little Fish pouted and milked, But Mommy is an adult.

Ai Nan no longer pay attention to her, this age of small children, the more she picks up her words, the more she will come, talk endlessly, especially the little fish child is a small child, or a small chatterbox.

Seeing that Ai Nan wasn't going to pay any more attention to her, Little Fish turned her head to Orange with a bit of loss and said, Orange, can you give me a kiss? Comfort my wounded heart.

Where did this kid learn to do that?

Orange, though a little reluctantly, brought her mouth to hers and nudged her forehead again.

Fishy scratched Orange's chin contentedly, Or Orange is still good to me.

By this time Ai had finished her meal and licked the corner of her mouth, Mommy, I want a new soccer ball, you promised.

Okay, I'll get it for you at the weekend. Ai Nan casually agreed.

Ai Xiaoning muttered with a grumbling tone, That's what you said last week.

        Aynan mused slightly, Yes?

! Ai Xiaoning gazed at her with questioning eyes.

Meow~ this even Orange couldn't look at it anymore, this one's memory wasn't too close, or was she just playing dumb, not only last week, but she said the same thing last week, and Orange remembers it all very clearly.

Alright, young master, hurry up and eat, I'll definitely buy it for you on the weekend. Ai Nan trailed off.

Ai Xiaoning skimmed his mouth and stopped counting, unlike the heartless character of Little Fish, Ai Xiaoning always appeared to be sensitive and introverted, perhaps because he was already a little more than three years old when his father passed away, and although he might not understand anything, he could always feel something.

Introverted children always have a small world of their own, Ai Xiaoning is full of infinite curiosity about all the electronic equipment, his grandfather's radio, his grandmother's fan, not less than his poisonous hand, since the contact with the computer is uncontrollable, as long as there is free time he spent most of the time in the room to tinker with computers and his electronic products.

Ai Nan was conscious that she owed something to the boy, and with it being her first child, she was always a little more forgiving and wouldn't mind him too much.

If Ai Nan hadn't insisted on enrolling him in some after-school classes, he probably wouldn't have even touched soccer.

        Eight-fifty.

The school bus appeared in front of the house on time, and Ai Nan helped the two children put on their backpacks and put them on the bus.

        Bye Mommy! Bye bye Orange!

The two little guys waved their hands and reluctantly said goodbye, especially Little Fish, the tips of his two eyebrows were lowered and he puffed out his little mouth, the boss was not happy.

Orange felt that the brat definitely hadn't inherited Ai Nan's excellent schoolboy genes, and going to school had become a pain in the ass for her.

Watching the school bus drift away, the man and cat were just about to turn around and go home when they heard a man's voice coming from the side.

That's your kid, right? Very pretty.

Thanks. Ai Nan looked over at the voice, an unfamiliar middle-aged man was looking this way, she smiled and thanked him.

Hello, Locke Adams, newly moved in neighbor, nice to meet you. Rock wore a bright smile, blonde hair, standard build, mid to late forties, carrying a cup of coffee with a burger, must have just returned from buying breakfast.

Orange's first impression of him was good, and it looked like Ai Nan seemed quite happy with the new neighbor as well, unlike the last couple of college students, who were always noisy.

Erin, nice to meet you. Ai Nan introduced her English name and then looked at her watch, Sorry I'm late.

Make yourself at home. Locke smiled gentlemanly.

Ai Nan brought Orange back home, scrambled to change her clothes, and when she was on her way out she admonished, Stool, I'm going to work, be good at home, and don't run too far if you go out.

Obviously Aynan knew this one couldn't be shut down.

Once Aynan had left, Orange's day really kicked off.

    Chapter VI: Racial discrimination

The morning rain didn't last long, and by about 10:00 a.m. the sun was not shy about peeking out of the clouds.

It was warm as early summer in Liral during the day, and the sun wasn't too poisonous today, making it a good time for sunbathing.

Orange first took his couch cushions to the small balcony above the garage, found a sunny corner to set them down, then went back inside and waddled over there with his muppet fish in his mouth, lazily laying down on the couch cushions and licking his paws, peacefully.

Suddenly, he remembered that the little thing he saved last night didn't know how it was now.

The doors to the lab were locked tight when Aynan wasn't home, making it impossible to get in, but it would be a good idea to try the doorway, wondering if the guy was still alive, and it pivoted to glance in the direction of the lab.

It's just, life and death has its own destiny, as a cat, he even saved the mouse once has been considered to be benevolent, besides, now really do not want to move at all.

He peeled the ragdoll fish aside into his arms and lay back down, closing his eyes and soaking up the sun.

Breeze caressing, warm sunshine sunshine it will soon be drowsy, suddenly from the downstairs came two loud sirens it scared a jolt, too he meowed no public morality, in case of frightening whoever the children how to do? Even if it did not scare the children, scared the cats and dogs is not good ah, it is a little depressed to open his eyes, covered his ears, turned over.

Curiosity kills the cat, upset after upset, always can't suppress a curiosity, it gets up and walks to the edge of the terrace to stretch its body, straighten its tail to look down curiously.

A police car was parked at the entrance of the next yard, and immediately after that, the new neighbor who greeted Ai Nan in the morning was seen wearing a set of police uniform and carrying a police belt in his hand, walking out from the house quickly.

So this new neighbor of ours is a cop, no wonder he always had a stern aura about him when I saw him this morning, but it seems to be okay, it thought as it scratched its neck.

No matter where you are, the police give people a sense of security, especially when there's a cop living right next door.

What happened next was a little hard for Orange to accept though, as it saw two barks coming from the police car as Locke was about to approach it.

Orange's long beard steepled back and licked his nose.

Sheesh! Dogs again! What a fuck-up.

Don't let this new neighbor raise it, or he's going to make a big impression on me.

Orange doesn't like dogs, even hates them a little bit, and in a serious way it that's very undesirable and racist.

It always felt that animals like dogs generally do not pay attention to grooming, to put it bluntly, they are slovenly, unlike their cats who love cleanliness and always lick themselves clean, not even a stray hair on their body is allowed.

Secondly, dogs are generally more flattering, especially Tai Ritian, not only flattering, but also obscene, underhanded, unashamed. Or not ancient times people like to call people dog lackey it, now there is a word is very apt, lick the dog, how not to lick the cat, lick the horse, visible to hold this view is not only limited to the orange, this may also be the orange and the few consensus between humans.

What makes it even more sidelong is that many dogs have a bad taste in sniffing asses, sniffing even if, even worse, it licks it, Orange himself is a victim of the unsavory past will not be mentioned.

But in the final analysis, the main reason for it to form a prejudice against the dog race is that it was chased by a stray dog when it was a child, chased a whole three streets, when it was still small, it can only hide in the sewer shivering, if not for the old Ai after class happened to pass by there, I'm afraid that it this little life will be finished.

This revenge it has been holding a grudge until now, and it is not that it wants to keep remembering it, mainly because there are too many people who have dogs nowadays, and almost as soon as you go out, you can meet them, and it can't help but make it think of the situation on that day.

Of course, there are exceptions, such as the exterminator who is now crossing a short leg to pee in the flower garden, Orange will never discriminate against it, and even sometimes there is nothing to look for it to practice, this guy's skin is thick, very resistant to beatings.

The Exterminator is a Shar-Pei dog whose owner is a total Marvel fan, so he gave him this awesome and dominant name.

The main reason Orange doesn't discriminate against it is because the guy is so ugly it's kind of hard to bear.

Marvel's Exterminator must be many people know only the chin there are folds, this guy can be good, that is full of folds ah, simply ugly to a limit, I really do not know how its owner's aesthetics is established, take the other three views of the rest of the edges of the building?

The exterminator finished peeing and looked back at his master with sad little eyes, before glancing at the leash on the ground, signaling that his master was ready to walk him on a leash.

Look, what a loyal and honest comrade, The Exterminator.

        ......

Locke walked to the car, stroked the head of the police dog sitting in the back seat Dragon Eye, Dragon Eye rubbed his arm affectionately, turned back to the seat of a yellow vest printed with the word police in his mouth and handed it to him.

Locke took the vest, fastened the police belt, put on the vest, walked over to the driver's barn, opened the door and got in.

I've only just laid down, what case is so urgent? Locke's voice was a little husky as he straightened his messy hair with his hand.

Homicide, Jax Street Pearl neighborhood. A fat, bald, sunglasses-wearing Olek said briefly as he started the car.

Locke was in the same class as him that entered the police academy, and now working in the same police station, the two were quite close.

You're looking pretty bad in this mental state, want a cigarette? Olrik fished out a pack of cigarettes from the side and handed it to him.

Locke took the cigarettes, lit one up, took a hard drag, two columns of smoke immediately drilled out of his nostrils, and raised an eyebrow with a bitter smile, and

It takes patience to interrogate a prisoner until dawn.

It's okay to use little tricks when appropriate, and mercy to the criminal is to victimize the victim, that's what our teachers always talk about.

They haven't had a trial yet, they're still just suspects at this point.

You're a competent police officer, I've never been able to speak to you. Olrik said rather dismissively.

Locke laughed and was silent in response, and after a few moments, said with some emotion, Law and order has been getting worse and worse lately, and as far as I know, this is the seventh homicide in the city this month, I believe.

Olrik hesitated for a moment, if Locke didn't say it perhaps he might not have realized it, he hummed lightly, ''It's not true, we are too close to Soma town, only less than two hundred kilometers, since the outbreak of RII virus, the citizens are a bit panicked, or repressed, the rumors of the virus getting out of control are spreading all over the internet, there are always some weak willed people who are mentally out of control, and make some crazy moves, but the city police department has already sent extra police patrols, I believe it will pass soon.

Olrik paused briefly, then said somewhat playfully, But this case is different from the past, it might be a bit tricky, so you have to be prepared.

Oh? Tell me about it. Locke was instantly energized.

It was reported by the officer who responded to the call from the community police that this time the killer was most likely not human.

Rock inclined his head slightly to give Olrik a puzzled look, thinking the guy was telling a joke to try to liven up the dreary atmosphere in the car, and he snorted, "That's not a very funny
