    BLACK TIDE PART 2

Something unexpected happened to Hauck that night.

Something unexpected happened to Hauck that night. Hauck made up his mind as he dabbed at the oil painting in the two-bedroom house he rented on Clid Avenue in Stamford. The house overlooks Holly Bay.

Still a picture of a marina. A small patrol boat, slowing down. Very similar to the scene he saw from the balcony. That's all he ever drew. The ships...

Jessie (1) is in her room, watching TV and texting on her cell phone. The father and son ate pizza earlier at the Mona Lisa restaurant in town and went to watch a newly released cartoon. Jessie pretended to be bored, Hauck enjoyed the movie.

This movie is for three year olds, dad. - Jessie narrowed her eyes.

Oh. - Hauck stops advertising. - Penguins are great.

Hauck liked this place, a sixties-style two-story house on a strip of land just a block away from the bay. The owner had previously renovated it from the second-floor balcony living room, overlooking Long Island. Neighbors were a French couple, Richard and Jacqueline, who worked as home repairers - their workshop was usually located in the garage invited me to a party at my house, there were many people coming with all kinds of English from different regions, and the wine wasn't too bad.

That's right, that surprised me . He felt how her eyes were - blue and large and attractive. Her deadly gaze was a natural match. Her voice was soft and melodious as if she wasn't standing there Her auburn hair tied in a youthful ponytail at the back of her neck.

Feeling the way she stuffed the bet ticket into his pocket and tried to make him smile.

    Not like Beth broken.

Hauck drew a small line along the boat's mast and mixed it with the blue of the sea. Finished, he looked intently. It really doesn't look good. No one can confuse him with Picasso.

She had asked him if Jess was the youngest child, and he had answered, after a pause that seemed like an eternity – I only have him. He could have told her that. She might have understood. She also had to go through that pain.

Come on, Ty, why keep coming back to that?

At that time, both of them had everything. You and Beth. It's hard to remember that they were once so in love. Beth had thought he was the most attractive man in the world, and he thought the same of her.

    It's just me...

What did you forget at the store that made you rush back? It's a pudding snack... .

Rushing to park your car in the parking lot, how many times have you done that and it will still be the same? A thousand times? Or ten thousand times?

Be careful. I'll back the car into the garage...

When he returned to the garage, bill and wallet in hand, they heard a cry. It's Jessie. Beth's eyes widened in horror - Oh, God, Ty, no! - through the kitchen window, they saw the truck backing up.

Norah had no time to scream.

Hauck put down the paintbrush. He put his hand to his forehead. It took away his marriage. It made him unable to look in the mirror without crying. And for a long time afterward, he couldn't put his arms around Jess

    and everything.

His mind went back to that morning. The streaks of sunlight seemed to dance on her cheeks, making him smile

in reality, Ty... Maybe She owns a car that's more expensive than his entire pension. Her husband just passed away. It might be another

    time palm tree. Surprised

at what it made him think about... what he felt. And that was strange, because nothing could surprise him more Likes: 1 Jessie: The formal name of Jess.

    December

Their lives have begun to return a bit to their usual peace. Sam is going through the college admissions process, her top two choices are Tufts and Bucknell universities. Karen visited two schools with her as required.

It was also at that time that two men from Archer knocked on her door.

Is that right, Mrs. Friedman? - The shorter person standing in front of the door asked. It was the person with a face like a carpenter's chisel with very close-cut hair. This person was wearing a gray business suit underneath a raincoat Thinner and taller, wearing horn-rimmed glasses and carrying a leather lawyer briefcase

Mrs. Friedman, we're from a private auditing company. Are we bothering you?

Karen initially had a fleeting thought that they were from some government fund that had been set up for the victims' families, having heard from a group of advocacy friends that these people could looks very cold and unprofessional. She opened the door.

Thank you. - The short-haired man with a mixed European accent gave her a business card. Archer and Bey Association. Johannesburg, South America. - My name is Paul Roos, and this is Alan Gillespie. We won't take up much of your time. Can we sit down?

Of course… - Karen hesitated a bit. There is something cold and emotionless about these two people. She looked closer at the
