About this ebook
Excerpts from the book:
In the evening, when all the daily duties were finally completed, Lycoris, like other maids, retired to her room.
She sat down on a chair at a small table, on which was a mirror in a simple wooden frame. From there, her tired reflection looked at the girl.
“I've been so tired for the last month,” she thought.
Her mind was immediately filled with sad thoughts. Lycoris took out a small silver medallion from under her clothes, with a teardrop-shaped sapphire plate on the top lid. Opening the medallion, the young lady saw a large orange bead attached inside, inside of which a slight radiance flickered.
“In the past, this bead didn't shine at all,” Lycoris mentally noted with a sigh as she closed her medallion. “Is this why I ended up here? If so, how can I get back?”
She went to the window. It got dark late on summer nights, but twilight had already come into its own with might and main, and the first stars lit up in the sky. People walked in the streets of the city, for the situation in Aurum was calm. Lights were lit in the houses, and many shops were just beginning to close for the night.
“I wonder what my parents are doing now? And my younger sister?” thought the girl, looking at the evening Aurum. “I wish I could go home. But I don't see how. One fine day, I just found myself in the middle of a forest unknown to me. I wandered for a long time, I don’t know where, until I fainted by the river, where I was found by Lady Rosalinda. She looked like a lady from a fairy tale of a long time ago. Fortunately, the languages we speak turned out to be very similar. But I didn't know how to explain to her who I was and where I came from. Therefore, I had to lie, as if I had lost my memory. Of course, I am very ashamed for this, but I couldn’t just say that I myself don’t know how, I got here, apparently from another world? And even now I think that the story of the lost memory turned out to be the right decision. Otherwise, I'm afraid I would be taken for insane and sent to the local appropriate institution. Or I would have been handed over to the Inquisition.”
Suddenly Lycoris noticed a dim blurry star in the sky. “Oh, I heard that when viewed with the naked eye from the planets of the Milky Way galaxy, then my home galaxy, the Andromeda Nebula, would look something like this,” flashed through her mind. But the young lady immediately dismissed such thoughts: “No, this is impossible. Of course, I don’t know what kind of place I ended up in, but I couldn’t actually find myself on one of the inhabited planets of the Milky Way? After all, as far as I remember the lessons of history, only the Earth, now known as Lost Terra, as well as the Moon and Mars were inhabited in this galaxy. But people left them more than five and a half thousand years ago, and went to the Andromeda Nebula! Where they settled on the planets Ceres and Juno. The Earth, and indeed the Milky Way in general, has never been visited since then. According to the assumptions of our scientists, there should be no life on Lost Terra now! So, it's impossible. Anyway, the place where I found myself, the Kingdom of Ferrum on the mainland of Solum, is more like a fantasy country. I didn't think other worlds existed!”
With such thoughts, Lycoris began to go to bed. If the inhabitants of Countess Landriano's mansion could hear her thoughts, they would be surprised a lot. And it is possible that for such heretical speeches, they would even hand over the girl to the Inquisition. After all, the Temple of the Maiden of Dawn strictly states that intelligent life exists only on Earth, on Cerulean Terra!

Chapter 1. The Kingdom of Ferrum, the Capital of Aurum
The Kingdom of Ferrum, the Capital of Aurum
On the vast continent of Solum, washed by various seas, there were many kingdoms.
One of them was Ferrum, which occupies an impressive land area. It was the Kingdom rich in deposits of various metals. But most of all, Ferrum was famous for its excellent iron, in abundance, mined from rich mines.
In the center of Ferrum is its capital, Aurum. This city, built on the principle of ‘mesh’ buildings and surrounded by high majestic walls of white stone, was a truly magnificent sight. On the walls, watch towers rose to the sky, so that any enemy could be seen from afar. Narrow loopholes were cut into them, in order to provide a worthy defense if necessary.
Inside, behind the majestic walls, many streets ran in even rows, dividing the city in straight lines. In the center of Aurum rose a hill, on which was located the castle of the royal dynasty of Astreia, which had been ruling for nearly five hundred years.
The towering majestic building made a truly great impression on those who saw it for the first time. It had massive towers and high walls. The castle was decorated with skillful bas-reliefs and magnificent columns. Therefore, the structure seemed both monumental and full of grace.
Next to it was the Main City Square, which usually had tent stalls.
In addition to the Square, it was also possible to purchase goods that came in abundance to the capital of Ferrum from other cities of the state and countries in two markets specially designated for this. One is located in the east of the city, and the other in the west.
In addition to them, not only Aurum, but the Kingdom in general, literally abounded with many small shops found in various parts of it.
... Now it was the height of summer. It turned out to be moderately hot, moderately rainy, and a pleasant refreshing breeze often blew.
In a very prestigious part of the city, where the city's mansions of the nobility and courtiers towered, the mansion of the King's favorite, Countess Rosalinda Landriano, was also located.
The house, painted in bright green, was decorated with pretty, albeit very modest facades. For the owner of the mansion, Lady Rosalinda, although she had a high status by birthright and was the mother of the King's eldest son (his illegitimate son Ayrell), had restrained tastes.
Her mansion was furnished with elegant but simple furniture. The number of servants was inferior in number to the houses of other noble persons. This is understandable: in order to keep order in the house of Lady Landriano, much less effort was required than in mansions, magnificently replete with all kinds of decor.
Rosalinda's few male servants lived on the ground floor, while the more numerous female servants lived on the attic. There were not very large, but cozy rooms, furnished in the same restrained style. The roof of the house was made of quality materials, so the rooms were cool in summer and mildly warm in winter.
The servants woke up early, at about six in the morning. After all, it takes time to get the job done.
Every room had a grandfather clock, which at exactly six in the morning began to play a pleasant melody for awakening.
The sound of such a melody woke up this morning the new maid of Countess Landriano, twenty-year-old Lycoris, a lady with blue eyes and golden hair. The girl started her work quite recently. It is clear that serving as a maid to such a high-born
