From Darkness to Redemption - Bill Vincent

    Part One

So I'm going to give my whole, unedited testimony. And I have to start in my youth, because if I do not start in my early childhood, I will not be able to get to my adolescence.

By the time I was 13, I had probably experienced more than most people will experience by the time they are 80. That's solely due to my upbringing. How many people understand that one childhood is very different from another?

I express my gratitude to God for enabling me to begin prophesying at the age of 17, following my conversion and complete abstinence from drugs and alcohol. I'm simply giving my testimony before the test.

So far, I've pastored a church, led two revivals, participated in five major revivals, and written over 100 books. And everything God has done in my life has been nothing short of miraculous. I've witnessed countless miracles.

I am a living testimony. I'm about to share some of it with you. But I also want you to understand that I have forgiven everyone who has wronged me.

I have given them to the Lord. I have nothing against the people or my family. Praise God. I have received forgiveness for all my actions. I am able to freely share this because I have forgiven those who have hurt me, as well as those who have hurt others. Thank God, I have a duty to respect my mother, but how many people realize that moms are not immune to mistakes? In summary, my mother experienced a romantic fever between the ages of 13 and 16, leading the doctors to believe that the high fever caused a part of her brain to melt.

She should not have survived, but God intervened to save her. And praise God, as she grew up, she got involved with somebody at a young age and started her parenting journey. We ended up with two fathers and three brothers.

During all of this, my mother had a chemical breakdown to the point where she could not function normally without medication. How many people understand what I mean when I say normal? I'm talking about her seeing, hearing, and communicating with things that weren't there.

During my early adolescence, I was approximately five, six, or seven years old, based on my memory. I was the kind of kid who refused to have visitors because I didn't want anyone to see how I lived.

We often lived in filth. I often had to go to school in unclean clothes. How many people realize that children can be quite cruel? But, you know what? Up until about eight or nine years old, I believed my life was fairly wonderful.

I had been hurt. The filthy conditions in which I lived had caused me to face a lot of rejection. I felt embarrassed by the conditions my mother endured. However, at the time, I thought I had it pretty good because my buddies seemed to be having a much harder time.

Medical issues frequently required my mother's transportation to the hospital. During those times, my brothers and I would often find ourselves alone at home. Sometimes people use it against you, but when my mother was hospitalized for double pneumonia and my brother and I were home alone, a guy started hanging around and paying for alcohol for us to drink.

I was 8 years old. By the age of nine, I could drink a 12-pack without becoming drunk. My father was an alcoholic before he died at the age of six, so I truly believed that I had a curse in the area of alcoholism, and if you don't understand curses, they are a very powerful thing that can pass down from generation to generation, and so I would have problems like this, but this guy that came along was more trouble than I knew.

After my mother's release from the hospital, they unexpectedly decided to allow him to reside with us. I developed an allergic reaction to penicillin. They gave me penicillin because I had a cold or something, and that's when I discovered I was allergic.

I broke out everywhere. One morning, I awoke in the middle of the night, and this man I didn't know was caressing me in ways he shouldn't have, but he had a firm hold on me, and when he noticed I was awake, he threatened to kill me if I moved.

Now, eight- or nine-year-old boys should surrender. You no longer have much of a choice in this matter. My mom is in the next room. My brother was somewhere. I woke up the next morning and raced into my mother's room.

I told her everything. I also informed my brother about the incident. I told them everything, but they did not believe me. In summary, as a shy youngster at the time, I would rant and cry for nearly three hours about what he had done, but they would not believe me.

He tried to explain that he was simply administering medicine to me. You shouldn't place medicine in those areas. He had no right to be administering medication to me. So it got to the point where if
