"MY SISTER MY COHORT ?
We grew up in a simpler time, when kids played outside till after dark, when kids didn't speak until spoken to. I remember carrying water on Saturday, for doing laundry. I remember mom’s ringer washing machine, and how I got my arm stuck in it once. My sister and I grew up in a very rural town in Kentucky. Some of you may have heard of the town. Harlan Kentucky, yep it is, Bloody Harlan. A coal mining town. Or it once was. I wasn't there for the bloody relatives there. My little sister was born there a year later. These stories are about us.
We lived on Cawood Hill. There was a road that went down to the highway.
