About this ebook
Based on true events, this collection of terrifying tales will send shivers down your spine. In the ancient world, when darkness consumed the night, tales of mysterious creatures and beings abounded. Legends spoke of demons, witches, wolves, shapeshifters, and vampires that roamed freely among humans. Whispers of a powerful energy being circulated amongst these supernatural creatures - one that could exist outside of a physical body and transfer into others at will. This elusive being was said to feed on the life force of living beings, taking on their form as it drained them dry. Some even believed that it would continue to do so until it found a suitable vessel for permanent possession. In modern times, doctors have called this condition the TOM syndrome - an acronym for "the other me". This neurological disorder is thought to cause hallucinations and delusions due to extreme exhaustion and dehydration. As you read through these accounts from patients who have experienced these visions, remember that their names and locations have been changed to protect their identities

Patient 1 (The Real Me)
Patient # 1: Thomas Phillips
Age: 38
Gender: White Male
Admitted: 11/11/2011
Code name: Patient Zero TOM
Admission:
Patient Zero or TOM was admitted to a mental health facility on November 11, 2011. His first diagnosis was extreme dehydration and extreme exhaustion. He was transferred from a nearby medical facility after his second visit to that hospital.
Medical paperwork:
His medical files indicated that TOM suffered from depression after suffering the loss of his wife in a plane crash a few years back. In the doctor's note, he indicated that TOM was given some strong antidepressants. TOM indicated to the medical staff that he thought he was imagining things. The medical staff releases TOM with some medications and orders to rest. To the surprise of the staff just three days later TOM arrived again looking worse and talking to himself. He was sent to a therapist in the facility.
The therapist:
The therapist asked TOM his name, age, and marital status. TOM answered correctly. The therapist asked TOM how he was feeling. TOM answered that he was fine.
TOM why are you here?
The Story;
Lately, things have been tough since my wife passed. My sister comes every day and helps me with my 4-year-old girl while I go to work. At night when I arrived I played with my daughter with her favorite games. My sister tells me that Bianca has been playing with an imaginary friend and that she is not showing any signs of missing her mother. The doctor indicated it was completely normal for a child to fill that void with an imaginary friend. Thomas played with her daughter every night. His daughter was so happy he even played as if he was also playing with the imaginary friend.
Thomas was very depressed and after his daughter went to sleep he drank and cried until he fell asleep. Awoken by his sister each morning. One night after he puts Bianca to sleep he stands in the kitchen drinking a bottle of wine seeing photos of his wife. At the end of the corridor, he could see his daughter. He tells her to go back to sleep. As he is falling asleep. He hears his daughter crying and rapidly goes to her room. Bianca was shaking in terror telling her dad that there was something in her room. Thomas proceeded to pray and tell her daughter it was just a dream and that he would never let anything happen to her. Bianca fell asleep. Thomas went to his room and continued drinking. A few minutes later Bianca started screaming. As he opened her door Bianca was underneath the blanket crying. She was screaming Daddy there is something in my room. Thomas decided to stay with her. As Bianca fell asleep again so did Tomas. Daddy, there is something here please believe me. Thomas awakes all sleepy and asks Bianca where do you see it. She pointed at her closet. Thomas stood up and went to the closet. As he opens the door his heart starts pounding rapidly as he sees a little girl in the closet
