Raw Reflections - Zakaya Amos
The Spark
There was a spark that started from two sticks with the constant struggle of trying to light it and
light it, but there was always an obstacle that startled the sticks from sparking
But
This spark is so powerful once it was lit
It lights up the room
it brings you out of the darkness
it is a guided sorcerer whenever you became lost into the darkness
it was everything you needed to stay warm, to feel comfort,
to feel like you accomplished something
Lately, that spark has been dying down
it dims into the shadows,
it ignites a subtle spark but burns out
every time there’s a huff and a puff
The spark in the room turns dark
you seem to lose your way when the outside and inside is so gray
The spark is constantly being overheated
people are misusing the spark
there’s no spark left inside
the spark is tired; it wants to be set free like a star shining in the sky because the
spark is losing its meaning of what needs to be done in the light
but how can that spark come back and gleam and make things happen that you ever dreamed
Defying the Divine
To truly think I was gonna get
away from this life easy
Disobeying the lord over the impulsive behavior that was completely a sin
God, I’m so sorry for going against you and letting what almost broke me, take over
how can I receive your forgiveness?
your love and your word from this
I realize I didn’t appreciate this life as I should have
I been so busy thinking about what’s so far ahead
Looking through the rear view mirrors is gonna make me crash
After all, it was a blind spot I became so blinded to see
I wasn’t appreciative of what I have now and the love and support that has been there
for something like this to happen
I’m so infuriated with myself right now that I let it get to this point
I miss my son, I miss my family, and my friends that NOW I COULD BE spending my birthday in a psych fuckin
